Flatiron, Spitalfields – A Slice of Heaven
Nestled in the vibrant enclave of Spitalfields, Flatiron is a carnivore’s dream that ticks all the right boxes, from the smiley, happy staff to the phenomenal food that’ll have you planning your next visit before you even leave your seat.
Upon entering, the cheerful demeanor of the staff is as warm as a freshly baked loaf of bread. Their genuine friendliness makes you feel right at home, which is a perfect segue into a dining experience. Service? Absolutely top-notch. The team is attentive without being intrusive, striking that perfect balance that lets you focus on the real star of the show: the food.
And oh, the food! Let’s talk about the steak. I ordered the flat iron (naturally), and it was nothing short of an epiphany. The moment I ate a sliced, I realized that this was no ordinary cut of beef – it was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. I mean, if you’ve ever fancied your steak to be more to a than a protein source, this is where you want to be. It’s the kind of tender that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about meat.
Now, let’s not overlook the accompaniments, because the beef dripping chips deserve a standing ovation of their own. Crispy on the outside and luxurious on the inside, these delightful morsels were dripping (pun fully intended) with robust flavor. I would literally consider smuggling these chips out in my bag if that wasn’t completely inappropriate and mildly embarrassing. They were the perfect partner to that melt-in-your-mouth steak.
But wait, there’s more! The wild mushroom sauce was like the cherry on top of an already decadent sundae, harmonizing with the meat to create a symphony of flavors that made my taste buds want to dance. It added just the right amount of earthiness, elevating the entire experience to something out of a gourmet dream.
And if you’re thinking it couldn’t possibly get better, hold onto your forks: the free ice cream is the kind of grand finale that will leave you wanting an encore. Fresh and bursting with flavor, it’s the kind of sweet treat that could convert even the most ardent dessert detractor. If I’m being honest, that little voice in my head—let’s call him my inner fat kid, Roland—was whispering sweet nothings about wanting twelve cones, reminding me that life is too short to skip dessert.
In conclusion, if you're anywhere near Spitalfields and craving a meal that'll leave you thoroughly satisfied and eagerly plotting your return before you've even finished, Flatiron is the place to go. With happy, friendly staff, stellar service, unforgettable food, and a free ice cream that’ll tickle your taste buds, this gem is a must-visit. Just make sure to bring your appetite and perhaps a stretchy waistband – Roland...
Read moreI have never run into any issues at Flat Iron Spitalfields before but this experience was awful. At the time we were leaving yesterday (Saturday 4th October 2025) around 23:15, the woman serving the ice cream was very rude to both myself and my partner. As soon as we approached the ice cream stand, after dropping the charm into the box, my partner politely asked the server for one cup and one cone. She didn’t respond, so we assumed she heard us… she tried to serve us both ice creams in a cone, and when my partner politely told her again that he had asked for a cup (as I am coeliac and really allergic to gluten) she gave extreme attitude towards us, whilst walking off to bin the cone and on the way back to serve us at the stand. She was rude to my partner and tried to label him a liar. I stepped in, and said she made an error and he did ask for a cup as once again I am coeliac, to which she rolled her eyes at me, handed me a cup and gave me a dirty look. Further to this, I was confused because I asked for chocolate but she lied to me and said it had gluten in it… which it does not. She was extremely rude in her attitude and her mannerisms. What was initially a really lovely meal, ended up coming to a really bitter end because of her. We are frequent diners at this specific Flat Iron, as are our friend and family members, therefore we would appreciate this situation being dealt...
Read moreHave been going to different Flat Iron restaurants around London for years and despite expected variability between venues I have always been quite satisfied with the service, ambience and food, that was until today when I went to the Spitalfields branch..
We were seated very quickly, which was nice and then approached by our server who seemed at the very least disinterested or just had had enough today….the place is clearly understaffed, all servers seemed rushed, things seemed very messy..
We ordered one well done and one medium rare, it took over 30min to get the food and when it arrived both steaks were very very chewy and my gf steak that was meant to be well done was bright pink and very chewy..the Mac n cheese was as dry as a bone clearly overcooked..
We requested the steak to be cooked more and they offered as a new one much more tender and at the right cooking point, but no sauce..we had to ask for it again..
As mentioned the service offered was quite “tense” not chilled as it had been my previous experiences at flat iron…
To finish off we had a very moody attendant who served us our ice cream at the end…
Oh not to forget the toilets were filthy mine even smelled of urine, papers on the floor, dirty toilet seats…
All and all will avoid that branch going forward or maybe we were...
