I went there and I paid with the Mobile Pay and Go app. If the store is supporting the app (it uses your location) you can just scan the barcodes with your phone and pay with debit/credit card details. If the store is not supporting then it’s not letting you scan anything and it says that on the screen. But everything was fully working so I just scanned my products and went to show my digital receipt to the customer assistant. Unfortunately, she didn't speak English well, so I went to speak to the manager (to confirm my payment) and he was clueless. I explained to him how the app works (as it's an official m&s app promoted all across the stores!!!), but he said it not their store (on the receipt). I tried to explain to him that the app is using the location and if it wouldn't be the correct store then I won't be able to use it. He said that they don't use it and that I need to pay again on their till!! So I asked him to give me a refund first using my digital receipt (it looks exactly like normal and it has a special barcode to do the refunds). So he scanned it and tried to give me 45pence instead of a few pounds as he said they have different prices in the store because it's a franchise. I told him that it’s absurd and that I want to get my full refund as it says clearly on the receipt how much I paid. He wasn't helpful at all, tried to tell me that if I don't pay (which I did!!) it's going to be seen as stealing and finally after few minutes of argument he told me to just go away, which I did as I was tired of his miserableness. If you want to miss your train then go to that...
Read moreI've used this m&s loads before and after long train journeys, it's fairly clean and has a decent selection, but I was pretty upset by the staff at my last visit, obviously m&s has had pretty crap issues lately with their cyber attacks, and I can really sympathise with how tricky that must be for all the staff, but this time I went in they had some guy barking something unintelligible at people (later deciphered to be that contactless payment isn't working, whatever that's fine) but when I went to pay with my card it took absolutely ages to read my pin, I thought it was done and took my card out, then it was all declined because I'd taken my card out too early, staff member comes over to help, she's rude and acting like I'm being a massive inconvenience from the get go, and when I set the card in again it can't even find the chip, do it two more times and it's not even reading my pin before declining, and the whole time the staff member is just unpleasant and then goes off in a huff saying the issue is I don't have enough money. At that point I just leave and say the issue is their card reader. Immediately check my banking app, no issues with the card and obviously way more than enough money as I'd just been paid. Got a water bottle from WHSmiths opposite instead and what do you know the card is working perfectly. Overall an unpleasant experience when all I was trying to do was buy some flowers for my nan. They need new card readers and better...
Read moreBought two bottles of wine from this store, no problem. As going through the station, one bottle dropped and smashed. Security for the station recommended I go to m&s as they might give me a new bottle, since I was bumped into when the wine smashed, so it wasn't my fault. The guy on the door was massively unhelpful, while I would have felt very lucky and grateful if they had given me a new bottle, when he didn't offer that, I at least would have thought they could have offered me a bin to put my smashed wine into. When he told me they didn't have a bin at all in the shop, I then asked for a carrier bag for the rest of my shopping, so it wasn't wine stained and with broken glass. This also was refused, and since I couldn't go into the shop with a bag with wine leaking out of it (reasonable), I couldn't even go in and buy one. There were no other staff available to help, and I did have a train to catch. I was told another member of staff was coming in one second, but after five minutes of waiting was told that they probably weren't coming as they were busy. Disappointing, frustrating, and stressful when you just need to get to a train, and I could have been very easily and very quickly helped - even just a carrier bag would have been appreciated greatly. Unnecessarily bad experience. Customer...
