I'm going to review the features and services within this station and then give my overall review. Starting with:
Platforms - There are 15 overground platforms in this station. Additionally, there are underground stations and bus stations located within this station. Each platform in this station is easily accessible as you can use either the stairs, escalators or even the lift to get to your desired platform. Platforms are also patrolled by members of staff who provide security and assistance for those in need.
Customer service -Ā The ground floor has multiple help stations and customer supportĀ services to provide assistance with any queries you may have. Maps and guidance packs are also scattered throughout the station and by key areas for those looking for guidance.
Hygiene - This station is consistently clean, which is a really impressive feat considering the size of the station and the traffic it generates. The level of standards of hygiene within this station is nothing short of praise worthy and exemplary as this station is well kept, clean and tidy. It's worth noting how everything looks really good and in great condition.
Arrival/Departure Boards - There are a number of large arrival and departure boards spread out throughout the station. They're all fully functioning and easy to read, which is a great plus and stops everyone from having to congregate in the same area - which can be a nuisance during peak hours. Thankfully that isn't the case here and this station stands as an example of how to do it right.
Size - This station is MASSIVE and beautifully spacious. The platforms and services are really well spread out - which helps ease the crowd control for the masses especially during peak hours. I really like how open and wide it all feels, it's refreshing so see buildings with that much space in London.
Services/Stores - There are countless stores within this station ranging from your typical station food stores like Boots, Greggs, M&S, to clothes stores, coffee shops, toy shops, jewellery stores, tech stores, flowers shops, etc. There's ALOT, and they're all in good condition and provide excellent services. I was really spoilt for choice and I'm grateful for that.
Seating Areas - Despite its size, there aren't too many seating areas in the station. I suppose this makes sense since most people are always on the move from one point to another. However, it's noting that the seats provided are good, clean and well kept - a running theme for this station.
Summary - Overall, I really like this station. Its easily one of the best stations in London if not the best. I really admire how it maintains its quality of service and standards while catering for the mass traffic it supports on a daily basis. Its worth noting that tho station is located by The Shard, so it's definitely worth checking out if you...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review refers to London Bridge Station. It is superb. I know there will be some who will have something to quibble about. Thus should not take away however from a superb engineering and organisational experience. This work was done over only a few years in a confined space whilst allowing the station to continue operating. There were no delays and the number of accidents was very low.
The result is a set of platforms capable of taking 12 carriage trains... All platforms are covered. Eventually for the Thameslink trains it will enable 24 trains an hour.... That is excellent!
Interestingly, the construction, planning and realisation, including healthy and safety, required collaboration between different groups some of whom had been separated before in the different parts of what had been a divided station. They were though brought together successfully. In addition there is now a common control room for the station so encouraging further collaboration in the operation of the station. Just outside the control centre is a magnificent steel truss... Worth a visit just for the truss but the rest of the design is also excellent. This station may be worth a visit... You might though be one of many people who have to use it..consider the wonder of the work around you...it could lighten your day..and you might take advantage of the new retail opportunities..well that would be up to you.. I am no fan myself. I do though take advantage of coffee opportunities, fair enough.. and there is going to be a Weatherspoons there, a decent one of these can be found at Cannon Street, I would expect to use this one also at some point.
If you do visit don't forget that by leaving through St Thomas Street you can pass the Shard and find the Old Operating Theatre Museum... Then the pubs in Borough High Street or around...
