I don't know if I would recommend this place to other students like me, because it is quite expensive for a domestic sewing machine. I paid 32 pounds for two hours and used 30 minutes of that time. Why? Because the sewing machine made horrible, poorly seams and even though I asked another employer if they could help me, there wasn't any change in that. There was no one else around until the two hours were up. All the time I spent sewing was wasted because I had to unstitch everything. I literally almost cried because I had wasted too much time and money getting there. Surely it is not anyone's fault that a machine is not sewing well, but to avoid wasting my time, it is necessary to test all the machines and make sure they are working well before a client comes, because you are harming the other person who has already paid for the service that is said to be very good and impeccable. If you have all the time and money in the world to come to this place and make a garment that is not so urgent and does not need really clean seams, I recommend you come. The good thing about this place is that they have enough materials that can help you doing your garment, but other than that, I recommend you look for...
Read moreI feel so lucky to have visited Make Town. It was the highlight of my trip to London for sure. Brooke, the shop owner, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. She handled all of the loom setup for me and gave me free range to select materials from more yarns and felts than you can imagine.
I never used a loom before last Sunday and within no time Brooke had taken me through the basics and into to adding texture and building geometric shapes and patterns. She was a brilliant teacher. Encouraged me to explore and experiment. Turned my mistakes into lessons that upped my skill level quickly.
The best part was how absolutely engrossing and almost meditative it was to sit at the loom with the city passing by outside the picture window. Within two hours I had produced something that I am incredibly proud to hang on my wall back home. And the pricing was fair!
I recommend Brooke and Make Town to anyone looking for a fun afternoon of making with friends or an unforgettable solo creative experience. Will definitely be back the next time...
Read moreI recently attended a class at Maketown as a complete beginner, and I was honestly a bit apprehensive about jumping in without any prior experience. However, the teacher was incredibly informative and patient, never making me feel awkward or out of place for needing extra help. It was such a relief to feel supported throughout the class.
One of the standout things about Maketown is the sense of community. Despite the range of experience levels in the room, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. It really felt like a positive, inclusive environment where everyone could learn at their own pace.
Maketown has definitely won me over, and I canât recommend it enough for anyone, whether youâre a beginner or more...
