Been seeing so many promotions of this place on Instagram and I had been wanting to try this place for the longest time so I was really happy I finally got to try it out myself and must say this has easily become one of top 10 bakeries in London!
I ordered 5 pastries but actually only got 4 probably because the staff there got confused and also partly my fault because I didn't count the paper bags before leaving and by the time I realised I was already far away from the bakery so I just accepted that I wouldn't be able to try the veneziana although this is also the perfect reason for me to go back soon!
I got here just before 12noon and there's already a small queue and a lot of people enjoying themselves outside although inside was pretty empty as it's a sunny day. I got the Cornetto alla crema and pistachio, pistachio pain Suisse and lemon curd bun. Everything was literally 10/10 apart from the pain suisse - it's branded pistachio but the pistachio to chocolate ratio was more like 20/80 so that was a let down. Nonetheless the dough was absolutely top-notch - flaky, airy, light and fluffy. I had the most amazing time enjoying the two cornettos and lemon curd bun, they were fantastic. This place is totally worth the hype and if you are still hesitating hopefully this review will help you decide and plan a trip to the bakery asap!
Staff were friendly and approachable and quick to pack my pastries in different paper bags to avoid the fillings from mixing with each other. Next time I would like to try the other menu items and have them there to enjoy with...
Read moreThis review is entirely based on Fornoâs customer service (or lack thereof). Prices are high but so is quality. The space is fun and spacious, and on first arrival it was somewhere I saw myself being excited to come regularly as well as bring others for coffee dates and lunches.
I purchased a few items to have in, but was practically chased out by a curly haired staff member, who told me that they wanted my table for others. This was really perplexing as well as disappointing, especially considering that Fornoâs just recently opened- this doesnât seem like the kind of name one would want to make for oneself? Also, two staff members were sitting at a large 4/6-top table throughout my visit, chatting amongst themselves with no intention of leaving it for customers. So it seemed odd to encourage a paying customer to leave, when they could have easily given their table up? I wanted to try a few more pastries and another coffee during my visit, but after being encouraged to hurry out, felt uncomfortable doing so. I hope they get this worked out and the staff member retrained to be more customer-friendly, as this will be a lovely space if so!
Also- dirty spoon provided with coffee. And table was...
Read moreIncorrect order and wrongly charged - whilst not ideal, itâs ok, because mistakes happen. But how you deal with mistakes is telling. Store manager was great and apologetic but the person on socials needs humbling!
Edit to respond: The days it took you to reply to my DM is not the reason for this review, it was the reply itself. You asked me to return to the bakery to prove it happened, because apparently the detailed info I shared about an incorrect order (which was a gift!) and overcharge was not enough for you to confer back with the small team. And when I told you it was too far for me to travel back with my small baby, you told me to write an email, despite all the info already on the DM. It would have taken you minutes to confirm with the team, come back and resolve - without the need for all the back and forth and then ask me to send an email.
Totally irrespective that itâs ÂŁ4 or ÂŁ400 You screwed up, take ownership, apologise and fix it whilst causing minimum hassle and pain to the customer...
