Pizza is not like anything Italian. Slightly stodgy, no mozzarella, no meat, little sauce. OK for England with chili oil, but I don't understand the high ratings. "Local food" = eggs from 80 miles away and beer from South London ( at least three good breweries in walking distance) Reasonable prices.
Response to Sarah. Other places make tasty pizzas with local ingredients, and use local mozzarella. Yours are some of the worst I have ever eaten and I don't understand why you avoid using Mozzarella altogether, but use the Italian name "pizza", and more to the point why they taste so bad, although it's obvious that using a weird blend of unsuitable cheese instead of English mozzarella is a huge part of the problem.
Other vegetarian places put it in the name or at the beginning of their description, rather than surprising you when you look at the menu. I was asked how the food was and gave an honest reply. Not sure why you ask people if you don't like or want to know.
It's either local or not, and sad when fake...
Read moreI've been vegan for about 2 years - 2 years with sad pizzas with the ever same veggies, no (or really bad/artificial-tasting vegan) cheese, no creativity, meh taste... This was the first time I felt like this pizza was MADE FOR ME, MADE to taste just like this, it was PERFECT! Nothing was missing, the dough was fluffy, vegan cheese tasted great, the toppings were great in and by themselves and even better in combination... all of it was SO GOOD! It was surely among the top 3 pizzas (or the best) I've ever eaten in my life - and I've been to excellent locations before, including some of the oldest pizzerias in Naples etc. Also, the philosophy of using local and fair ingredients, the super-friendly staff (with great suggestions when in doubt), delicious homemade and creative drinks and fantastic dessert all contributed to a superb evening, the culinary highlight of our trip! When I'm back in London, I'll be...
Read moreTook the wife here for Valentine's Day as it had been recommended in Time Out as one of the best places to take a vegetarian (the missus is veggie). We were NOT disappointed! The food was all FASCINATING and brilliantly devised. They were kind enough to treat us to complimentary kimchi and focaccia. Unlike these young whippersnappers who have only just discovered kimchi, I have been eating it for decades (during my time in Korea) and this was truly the best I have had in a long time. My wife isn't much for fermented food usually but she admitted that she loved this kimchi. I even had kimchi on my blo*dy pizza and was in heaven. Who would have thought it?! The service was very charming and the environment fitting for any gentleman and lady wishing for a pleasant evening together. Jolly good beer, too. Prices are high but since it was such a good culinary experience and a special occasion, we were happy to...
