I recently had the pleasure of dining at an exquisite Italian restaurant Osteria Romana in London, and I must say that it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped foot through the door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambiance that transported me straight to the heart of Italy.
One of the highlights of my evening was undoubtedly the impeccable service provided by the waiter, Devid Trucchia. His genuine passion for his craft and attention to detail truly elevated the dining experience. Devid's extensive knowledge of Italian cuisine and wine made him an invaluable guide throughout the evening, as he effortlessly recommended the perfect dishes and pairings to suit our preferences.
Not only was Devid incredibly knowledgeable, but he also had a remarkable ability to make us feel like we were the most important guests in the restaurant. His friendly demeanor and genuine interest in ensuring our satisfaction created a warm and inviting atmosphere that added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.
Devid's professionalism and dedication to his work were evident in every interaction we had with him. He skillfully navigated the bustling restaurant, effortlessly attending to the needs of all the guests, while still managing to provide personalized attention to each table. His efficiency and grace were truly impressive, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to be served by him.
In addition to the exceptional service, the food at this Italian gem was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish was a delightful combination of flavors and textures, showcasing the true essence of Italian cuisine. From the perfectly al dente pasta to the rich and flavorful sauces, every bite was a culinary masterpiece.
The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, with a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that exuded sophistication. The attention to detail in the décor, combined with the warm and welcoming staff, created an ambiance that made us feel like we were dining in a hidden gem tucked away in the streets of Rome.
Overall, my experience at this Italian restaurant in London exceeded all expectations. The combination of exceptional food, charming ambiance, and, of course, the outstanding service provided by Devid Trucchia made it an evening to remember. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of London. I must say, this is the first time I rate with 5-star in all categories.
Food- Authentic regional ingredients sourced weekly from Italy demonstrates Italy receipes by heart. From Oxtail Ragu, Pork Cheek, porcini, Pecorino, truffle, ricotta, amongst others, the authenticity of regional ingredients can be tasted in the dishes of the house. House Recommendation: Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe with Truffle in Peccorino Wheel- An absolutely pleasure if you are truly hungry. Is not going to be light and is not going to be healthy but is going to be flavour aboundant. Recomend to try the gelatos instead of the classic tiramisu, for the change
Service was stunning. I had an issue with my booking and had to reschedule, they solve for me availability and offer an alternative. Then I asked to add additional guests and they solve and finally; had guests joining late and they were respectful and mindful with change of plans never pushing the table to leave and actually suggesting ordering at different moments if needed.
Ambience: very reflaxed, familiar and maintains the tradition. This is not a very flashy place and in fact the level of casual environment makes it even more pleasant.
Price: £50per person. I believe was justified for the portions, area and quality. This is not a fine dining place, but given ingredients are sourced regionally and preparation is not simple, price is fair.
Booking needed, small place not ideal for big groups. Have a terrace where you can sit and eat if weather allows. Kitchen was still open until 10pm...
Read moreFrom the moment we were seated, the experience lacked basic hospitality standards. A waiter approached our table and began cutting basil next to us without introducing himself or explaining what he was doing. Only after finishing did he mention his name, without clarifying that the basil and bread were part of the service. I had to ask separately if we could order bread, only to be told it was already on the way — a detail that should have been communicated upfront.
We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which arrived after a considerable delay and was unfortunately not chilled. The waiter placed it in an ice bucket and poured one round, but after that, I had to get up and top up the glasses myself.
The food was underwhelming and overpriced. The pasta dish was below the standard I would expect from an Italian restaurant, and my prawn pasta contained only about five prawns. The bread served was extremely hard, likely stale or left out most of the day.
During the service, two guests at the table next to us politely asked if their table could be moved — a reasonable request given that many two-tops were available. Initially, both the waiter and manager declined. It was only after realizing the guests would likely leave that the manager agreed and made the change, something that could have been handled more graciously from the start.
As someone who works in and manages restaurants myself, I found the overall experience disappointing and disheartening. It’s unfortunate to see the level of hospitality drop in such noticeable ways, especially in an industry that relies so heavily on thoughtful,...
