What a terrible station it is. The ticket machines were malfunctioning after 4-5 transactions. Being that it is such a central station in the heart of London, you'd expect more staff, reliable ticket machines, and more ticket machines. There were 2 operational machines, I wanted to simply top my oyster by £2, turned out to be a disaster.
So I queue up and find that one machine is not accepting notes/coins and the other is. Since there was only a single machine accepting cash, it was hogged by all. I eventually had my turn and tapped my Oyster to find that I couldn't select an amount below £5. There should've been an option 'Other Amount' which was not visible. I went to a support staff by the gates to try get it fixed but he insisted that the option was there. I continued to explain that it wasn't but he wasn't having it and began to ignore me. I had given up at this point and went back to the machine to top up £5, more than I intended to at the time. Then the cash only machine malfunctions after another customer gets his £2 coin stuck in the machine. I stood there for a good 2-3 minutes before a member of staff came down to fix that machine, cursing while doing so and claiming he is over-worked 'I'm only one person'. Eventually, I was able to top-up £5 (again, I was forced to since no-one wanted to help) and get out of there. I was in there for 30 minutes trying to top-up before I caught my train. The modern ticket machines at my less busy train station are much easier to operate and they surprisingly have more ticket machine than a station in central,...

Read moreNot here. Look for the Houses of Parliament -- there should be a Tube roundel on the map across the street from Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben is the bell at the top). Or, just look for the confluence of Parliament Street (Whitehall), the A302 (Westminster Bridge Road), Abingdon Street, Great George Street, and Victoria Street.
Westminster Station is the only Tube station where the Jubilee Line meets both the Circle and District lines. It has multiple ways out (exits), so make sure you know which one to use. Don't use the way out for Portcullis House, unless you're a member of Parliament or you are...
