Booked this hotel because it had a kitchen with a hotplate and was centrally located.
The bed was quite comfy as I slept on it for 7 nights and was well rested.
The kitchen was functional though the exhaust fan above the hotplate was not - not sure how to turn it on. The chef knife provided was blunt and couldn't slice a tomato - no sharpening steel was provided to remedy that.
The bathroom was a bit small but the ceiling was high so I was able to brush my hair without hitting the ceiling or cupboards/walls. The shower was inside the bathtub - these setups should be outlawed! A rubber mat to place in the tub was provided but it was quite inconvenient to climb in and out of the tub - the climb was greater than 50cm! The lighting was decent enough to put makeup on and there was a heated towel rack.
The tiles to the main area need their grout cleaned - it was black and dirty. The window couldn't be fully opened but it was nice to let some kind of breeze through because the room tended to be a bit stuffy when there was rain and humidity because the cooling system only allowed you to change temperature, not fan speed, or to just have fan.
There was an ice machine (which I didn't know about) in the laundry room where there were 4 washers and 4 dryers. They were operated remotely via wifi - you have to set up an account. The cost for a wash was £5, a bit steep, I considered going to laundromat but they were all distant and poorly rated in the area. The machines' display was in Espanol so I don't know which setting of wash I selected. The app let you: know when a machine was available for use; reserve a machine; and when the machine was finished.
Continental breakfast was advertised at £12 in the elevator. A small but decent selection of serve yourself items. I was later charged £15 though, upon checkout, I was happy to pay £12 but £15 was too much, you could easily have found a better breakfast a short walk away.
There is a gym nearby and the hotel offers a gym bag for your convenience. They also offered a small trolley to take to the shops. Both of these were advertised in the elevator and I wouldn't have known about them otherwise.
I would stay here again because it was so ...
Read moreJust spent last evening at this hotel. Great location, but that is where it ends. Checked into our room (next to one which the door looked like it had been taped up like a crime scene), and decided to take a bath, after a long day of traveling and sightseeing. Bath filled up half then no hot water. My husband called to the front desk and the woman on the desk said that we had to turn on the water heater switch? No directions to do this.... She said she would send someone up. He came up says that there was no switch and that hot water tank was empty and that other units were using it so we had to wait 20-30 minutes? This, was of course in broken English, which most of the staff appears to be. Wouldn't be a problem if you could understand them. I have no problem with accents however this is beyond ridiculous. I called back down and asked to speak with the general manager as this was unacceptable that I couldn't have a bath when I wanted. After all this is not a YMCA. She said she had to "call and find" the manager, but would have them call me back. The "manager" called back and I explained the above and he said that there was ino switch which need to be turned on and in fact the tanks were not shared. He offered to change our room and said he would call when he had the room number. The door knocks, and two workers in broken English say they are there to fix the hot water? I couldn't make this up. Just then the manager called about the room and I told him the guys were there to "fix" the water? The manager said he would be right up and gave us the new key and said he would deal with the workers. Of course, we had to re-pack, and move ourselves to the new room. No offer was made to help, but he did say they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite. We were only staying the night, so it really made no difference to us as we had to leave at 6 A.M. but the room was decent and had hot water! Went out and came in fairly late and went to bed only to find that the queen sized bed, is in fact two single mattresses pushed together, no topper to fill the join? I don't expect any of the above at a hotel charging these rates, sorry. We will...
Read moreThis hotel just seems to get worse with each stay and they win, this will in fact be my last stay. The hotel is NOT a 4 Star anything, it's a 2 star at best and I'm being generous. The halls are nasty, dirty walls with even dirtier filthy carpet. Rooms appear to have not been cleaned since opening along with painting of the walls. Yes, it's that bad!! Toilets that don't flush, mold in the shower and around the sink. Sheets that are so thin you can read through them. An A/C unit that doesn't get cold it stays just 20-21 c in the room, that's it. No matter how low you put it, that's it. And it's as noisy as could be along with a build up of years of dirt on the intake. Do not pay that outrageous amount for their "breakfast", they should be ashamed of themselves. There is free coffee in the lobby, but don't expect a smile or anything from staff, you won't get it. They will watch you stand at the door with both arms full and not open the door. For the amount of money one pays to stay here, there should be more... A LOT MORE. I've stayed at Premier Inn's that were cleaner and offered more amenities, then here for not even a quarter of the cost. Since we're Diamond with Hilton, a Hilton in the future it will be. Save yourself the trouble and your money, find a better, cleaner hotel... BTW, still waiting for the desk clerk to thank me for staying or even look at me at check out. 4 star my fanny....
Laundry Room: £5 for a load a wash, what a crock. The laundry room is filthy dirty, machines are filthy, ruined a few of our shirts from dirt stains from whatever was in the washer. You used to get coins from the front desk for a £1 a load, no more. and it's £4 to dry and the dryers are not vented even though the vent is right there. So you get nice hot wet clothes for the privilege of paying some stupid app £4 to "dry". Yes you have to use some app now in order to use the washers/dryers. I'm sure it will be listed as an app stealing all your information by the Google Play...
