Have to say I'm not usually one for leaving negative reviews in general, but sometimes you have to for things to improve. I booked for myself and 2 friends to go for Sunday Lunch as I had been here before years ago and it used to be amazing.

I read the other reviews online before booking, however I have worked in hospitality and customer service all my life, so I know people have a tendancy to shout it from the rooftops and tell everyone when they've a bad experience but not enough people speak up when they've had a good experience.

Even though I was a bit dubious because of some of the reviews I thought I would still give them the benefit of the doubt and try it for myself and I'm sad to say it, but I have to agree 100% with some of the other not so great reviews.

3 of us ordered at the same time for the same table number however one of us got our food 10 minutes before the other two. The food was cold so I had to send it back to be put in the microwave & even then I had still pretty much finished my food before the others got theirs and it wasn't because it was busy. It was quiet. There was no-one else in eating.

The vegetables were soggy like they had been chopped, frozen and then microwaved, the roast potatoes weren't proper roasties, just peeled and chopped potatoes that had been shoved in the deep fat fryer & the mash was dried up in a lump and not very nice.

Such a shame as this used to be a great place for Sunday lunch going back a few years & I was hoping to find a new local. It was so disappointing for what we paid, especially when you have places like The Banyan Tree and Three Little Words nearby that both do a fantastic Sunday lunch with everything prepared fresh for pretty much...

Disappointing Service, But overall ok for just 1 night.

We stayed at The Oxnoble between Christmas and New Year for one night in a family room. I called earlier in the day to confirm our booking for 2 adults and 1 child, and everything seemed in order. However, upon checking in around 4pm, we noticed the sofa bed hadn't been set up. When we approached the bar to inquire, we were told it was our responsibility to set it up ourselves, and the bedding was supposedly in the cupboard. When we couldn't find it, we returned to the bar, and a different staff member apologised and promised to bring it up in about 15 minutes. He explained that many housekeepers had time off for Christmas, and it had simply been missed.

The family room itself was okay, but had a strange layout with a small hallway and two separate rooms. There was also a musty smell in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, though, and overall the room was decent.

We were told breakfast was served from 7:30am to 12:00pm, so we came down at around 09:10 the next day, only to be informed that the chef wouldn’t be in for another 20 minutes. While it wasn’t a major issue for us since we weren't in a rush, we did wonder how guests arriving at 7:30am might feel. Staff seemed disinterested and unbothered, which was disappointing. When breakfast finally arrived, it was fine in terms of taste, though nothing special.

Overall, our stay had its ups and downs. While the room was comfortable, the service left a lot to be desired. It seems like the hotel struggles with adequate staffing, especially during busy times...

Had an overnight break in Manchester. Booked The Oxnoble because it seemed to have relatively good reviews at a glance. Dissapointing is abit of an understatement given the price point and in comparison to other places we have stayed within the same price range.

To start with, the room looked really tired. Stank of smoke which was really off putting. Staff didnt show you to the room just gave us a key and sent us on our way. We were met with broken door handles, extractor fan to bathroom didn't work, wobbly toilet seat, shower barely fixed to the wall, blocked sink. Door threshold not fixed down, major trip hazard. Really weird poster fixed to the wall on a tatty piece of plywood - bit random -totally out of place.

We booked a double and got 2 singles which wasn't a major issue. However, when we got back to the room after dinner the TV didn't work - the ariel cable at the back was broken and had no channels tuned in which was really frustrating. Added to this the WiFi was rubbish and couldn't connect - so no Netflix or other streaming services!

We were worried about breakfast given the bad reviews. It was mediocre at best. Dirty tables that hadn't been cleaned from the night before. Everything just looked tired and a bit grim. Ordered breakfast at the bar, as no cereal, juices, tea or coffee were laid out for guests. Ordered a latte and the coffee machine was broken.

Really poor when compared with what else is out there! Big dissapointment I'm afraid. Great location but leaves alot...

Really nice food and service! I visited Oxnoble with my family and partner as I've walked past it plenty of times and saw it was under new management. Safe to say we were impressed! Didn't take a photo before eating as we dug in straight away! We ordered the Sunday roasts (2 beef, 1 chicken, 1 cheese and onion pie) and the quality of the food was amazing. The meats were perfectly cooked and extremely flavourful, I loved the vegetable selection (all were very fresh and tasty) and the Yorkshire puddings were massive! The gravy was also an absolute highlight. The cheese and onion pie was delicious (we all tried some) and we were notified by staff that it's a new recipe. Definitely would recommend it! Drinks were good too and service was lovely- we were served by a very helpful and kind manager, Sean, who made the experience pleasant. There was some live music on while we were there which was nice too, good for an afternoon of relaxation. Overall, would recommend for a Sunday afternoon meal.

Called in today (Sunday) for the Sunday roast with friends after doing Pacman round the corner knowing it's recently under new ownership with a nice new ethos and less sport focused. Met with a lovely warm friendly welcome from all the staff upon entering, seated and looked after with lovely service the entire time we were in nothing too much trouble. Ordered a delicious roast beef with a side of pigs in blankets myself but our table had the range of Sunday roasts and was delicious, beef cooked pink as asked for, crispy roast spuds and a Yorkshire pudding that I'd be proud to present as a Yorkshireman to friends and family. The portion was perfect left well filled (no room for pudding - an excuse to come back again). The bill came splitting it between our friends was no problems and it was a very reasonable price for a city centre venue. We 100% will be back again for more roasts and maybe the usual weekday menu items as well sometime

On a rainy Saturday afternoon, my wife and I went into the Oxnoble pub for a quick and simple meal. Found the place nice and tidy, pleasant atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and quite efficient. And the food was totally excellent. In my book, a general rule is that if a diner closes his eyes while eating, that's a sign of good quality, and I so did. I cannot sufficiently praise the Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie; it was delicious. Also the desserts were memorable, both the Chocolate Brownie and the Strawberry Mess. As I'm not a frequent pub goer, I'm not quite sure what my preconceived expectations were, but they were easily exceeded by a great margin. I warmly recommend the place, and would definitely eat there again.
