The Cheese Hamlet — Local services in Manchester

First off let me say I'm life threateningly allergic to milk - so I can't review their cheese. But I can review their service...

And honestly, 4 years I've been coming here to get my mum and dad a Christmas hamper, and 4 years I've walked away singing their praises. They've always been ridiculously helpful in putting together a hamper for me, my parents are vegi and obviously given I can't eat any animal milk derived products I literally have no idea what I'm buying... Every time the staff have gone out of their way to help me, explain what I can and cannot get for my parents, always really interested in my allergy without making me feel awkward.

My parents have said for the last 4 years running the cheeses have been excellent. Based on my mum pigging out on Christmas day this year, I reckon there's truth in that.

Honestly can't recommend the place enough. They do a lot more than cheese, think your general deli...

Some really nice cheeses here but we've decided to stop going to the shop for two main reasons: first of all, the prices are rather high - it's good quality cheese (on the whole, though other products in the shop not necessarily) but you can get as good elsewhere for less and secondly, because they are really bad, we've found, at cutting pieces of cheese to size. They always seem to want to give you more than you want. For example, I asked for about 200g of Taleggio the other week - the piece I got was 370g, nearly twice the amount I needed for the recipe I was following. 250g would be reasonable perhaps but 370g is not. We have been coming to The Cheese Hamlet for many years so when we were planning our wedding we definitely wanted a cheese cake from The Cheese Hamlet. John and his team were amazing at providing amazing customer service and we had a wonderful cheese tasting appointment where they talked us through so many options. From other cheese cake quotes we received The Cheese Hamlet were the most competitive and the most flexible. On the actual day of our wedding the cheese cake was a huge success and our guests still talk about it today saying it's the best cheese that they've ever tasted!
