What a great day we had, we arrived and tried to book our day rate two rounds of golf for £25 per person. Unfortunately there had been a mix up in the wording of the confirmation email which should have stated the day rate was £25 per round, not £25 for the day. Anyway after a quick check of the email and an equally quick chat with the manager Seahouses gc honoured the email. Chad move from them. The weather was 26° bright sunshine but the wind was still up there around 25-30mph. So still making this links course a challenge. Fairways and especially the greens were in awesome condition give the recent dry weather. Clubhouse welcome was great, food was home cooked and hearty. Only blemish on the day was the a couple of groups of members.
First was a group of teen/20's pumping balls upto and at several times through our group even though we were held up by several groups in front of us on this very busy sunny day. A second group of older members literally walked through our group, stating they were members and we should let them through as they were playing in "a match". One pair stopping to explain while the other pair simply matched upto the tee and played there shots. A brilliant move in distraction technique lol. So a brilliant day on a brilliant little links course, slightly marred by two groups of snotty, frustrated members. Hence just the 4 stars. Otherwise highly...
Read moreAfter the horror of the previous course that we played it was an absolute delight to play here at Seahouses.
We booked our round online and were made very welcome upon our arrival. There are no airs and graces about the clubhouse, it is a perfectly formed retreat for members and visitors alike. Though we weren't able to eat there we have read that the food is excellent.
The course is in super condition; nice tight fairways, well sanded bunkers and extremely fast, smooth greens. There are some shared fairways but once you get the hang of them you can manage them in your stride.
It was blowing a hooley when we played which added to the difficulty; at times the wind sent the balls into places that you didn't really want to end up in. Though when I played the infamous (or famous) 15th, I played for the wind and it didn't hit the ball at all!
I can't wait to play there again and, if you're in North Northumberland, you should most definitely...
Read moreI first visited Seahouses Golf Club in their centenary year of 2013. When I plan a holiday to Northumberland again this year I really wanted to play Seahouses again. I was not disappointed. Myself and my son-in-law played the course on two separate occasions and In our interactions with the Club to make the bookings, the staff could not be more helpful. The greens were quick and true, which is an achievement given the dry summer, though the fairways had clearly suffered in the hot sun. We found the other players we encountered on the course to be very friendly and courteous given that there are a couple of holes with shared fairways. It is a pretty open course, but the prevailing wind cranks up the challenge . There are some lovely holes with the par 3 10th (over water) and the par 3 15th (over the cliffs) being particular highlights for us. Would certainly visit again when in the area. Even saw dolphins in the sea whilst playing...
