The Hair Emporium — Local services in Abilene

This was probably one of the worst hair cutting experiences I have ever had. I'm not sure if the gal cutting my hair was new or not but she didn't say a word to me the entire time except to ask me what I wanted done with my hair, if it looked OK, or if there was anything else I wanted. I told her what I wanted and where I was ok with the length being cut to and then smaller details like cutting out the blonde spots in the front and having the hair frame my face and some layers. Instead of pulling my hair out or to the side or anything else, she literally just combed my hair to the back and cut it in a straight line. My hair is at least 2 inches shorter than I wanted it and is above my shoulders which was one of the first things I told her I didn't want because I have curly hair and it bounces up. I ended up just saying it was fine because I was afraid it would just get shorter and shorter. I also could feel her shaking and trembling the entire time like she was nervous. It was all around the most awkward haircut ever and I feel like I could have done this to my hair myself instead of paying $28 plus a tip because I didn't want to be rude. I normally don't write reviews,but this I just couldn't let go. Now this isn't about the salon itself,nor most of the stylists there. This is an excellent salon, except for a newer stylist there. My sister went in for a haircut and wash. Her hair was never washed and the stylist didn't even listen to my sister on how she wanted it done. She repeatedly told her while her hair was cut it was wrong, so she just gave up telling her. I also think it's very unprofessional to have the boyfriend sitting next to her talking about ordering dinner. When my sister was asked how she liked it, she never said a word to her. We had a wonderful experience today with one of the beauticians. She did highlights in my daughters hair and they turned out better than we could have imagined. They took care of us in every possible way during the time we spent and even went the extra mile to help try to correct some preexisting issues. I will highly recommend, we felt like family during the experience and being from a small town, that was truly a blessing. Very educated young lady that had an answer for every question an ignorant dad had to ask about helping his daughter feel like the most beautiful version of...
