I will start with the good. I absolutely LOVE my apartment. The homes are very nice inside. First floor units (which I am in) have all vinyl flooring, except the bedroom is carpet, and they have 12 ft ceilings. The maintenance staff is AMAZING and the few times I have had to request maintenance it was usually handled within a day or two.
Now the not so good. This is the first place I have ever lived where I do NOT feel safe. So much so I now own a 12 gauge shotgun- more on this in a minute. My first year here there were a lot of car's being broken into in the garage around Christmas. Understandable as it was the holiday season however, this continued into March. The very first crime meeting I attended, the Addison police came and basically said it was OUR fault for not having car alarms and leaving things in view in our car. One guys truck was completely stolen. We asked for cameras and were told they are a false sense of security - pretty much the same as the gate for the garage. I did see TWO brand new trucks sitting on all four brake calipers as all four wheels on both, on different floors in the garage, were stolen INSIDE the gate. Needless to say this was the first and last crime meeting I attended.
Being that I am on the first floor near a door to the garage, I hear everything. I even hear people trying to come in to my apartment at 3 am. Remember the 12 gauge? This is the reason. The first time this happened I thought maybe someone drunk tried the wrong door. The second time was enough for me to protect myself. I wrote the office a nice long letter after the crime meeting detailing my issues - I was told I could install a home alarm system. I hear all the yelling, screaming, laughing and running that goes on in the hallways at all hours of the night/morning (mostly night). I had a neighbor above me that had a toddler and I could only assume he was practicing to be a professional bowler. You CAN hear your neighbors on ALL sides. This is an apartment so some noise is expected. I do not fault management for what the tenants do, but those saying they can't hear anything??? I have to question that. Also, it seems like once a month here lately we have to evacuate for a smoke alarm. Some units had to even evacuate when SWAT was called. That was not my floor/area, but we did receive an email about the incident. I'm assuming something domestic and again, management can not be held accountable for that, right?
The doors to the buildings are accessible with a key fob. Maybe it's my building, but the doors are constantly broke on the first floor. I think because tenants yank and pull on them and break them. Cameras would be a good investment on all key fob doors as you could then charge the tenants that break them. It's really a pain to go grocery shopping, come home with all your bags in your hands and you can't get in the door. When this happens I call the office and boy do they get irritated having to come let you in. I was even told the door on the other side of the building worked and I should use it instead of calling the office. My response - This one should work too.
I haven't dealt much with the office, but the few times I have I was not treated in a nice manner. One girl in particular rolls her eyes and acts as if she can't be bothered. I assume it's me as she's always been like this to me. She's the one that has come to let me in when the doors are broke so it probably is me... In summary, this IS an apartment. You can and will hear your neighbors. I will be leaving when my lease is up in the next few months. I'm tired of not feeling safe, wondering if my car will still be there and hearing all of the yelling in the hallway. My safety is way more important to me than what my home looks like. One final note, it is common knowledge that the management company offers incentives for good reviews. Please keep that in mind as you do...
Read moreI don’t know where to begin with the list of complaints that I have about living here for the past 12 months. First off, and most importantly, the entire 12 months that I lived at this horrible apartment that underwent a management change just over halfway through, never once did I need to use my fob to get into an exterior door of the building, or any access point inside the building. Literally, anyone could walk off the street and into this apartment, enter the mail room and take packages, into the pool, into the workout room, literally anywhere in the apartment without a fob. This place is not safe and they do not care about your safety. If you do not lock your personal door to your apartment, anyone off the street could walk in to your home and take anything they want or even worse. do not live here. Example 2: the other tenants do not respect anyone but themselves, and the management does nothing to keep others in line. People constantly let their pets, poop and pee in the hallways, and in the stairwells, which is absolutely disgusting. When I mentioned to management the most that they ever did was send an email telling people to stop or else… so scary. On top of this, absolutely no one picks up after their pets outside, which is also disgusting. Number three. Similar to point number one, the apartment has a large dog park behind it. That has two entrances. One day I went to let my dog in the side entrance, and it was zip tied shut with a sign that said, for residents only. it’s funny how they protect their dog park from outside people more so then they protect their own rent paying tenants. Absolute idiots. Example number four. Both the previous management team and the current management team have zero idea of what they are doing. It takes them over a day and a half to get back to any request or complaint that you file with them through their stupid app that works only half the time. they are also never in the office. When I went to turn in my keys after we moved out, they were supposed to open at 10 AM. I sat there till 1030 and no one showed up, sidenote, I also turned away a couple who was coming at 10 AM for a tour, but no one was there because they are stupid and have no respect for anyone else’s time and they are idiots. I had to leave two voicemails which they didn’t answer and I came back around 1 PM and there was only one person working there. In fifth and final point would be this. You are so far from the circle compared to every other apartment in Addison that it doesn’t make sense that you’re paying all that money for “location” when it’s a 20 minute walk to any restaurant any other dog park. They rip people off and they don’t care. To wrap this all up, I absolutely hate this place, I absolutely hate the management, I don’t recommend this apartment to anyone with a pulse or without a pulse, the management can go and screw themselves, there are just no words for the stupidity and ignorance that anyone who works there and a lot of the people that live there. But you always have to look on the bright side. if you don’t live there you can always drive by and just walk in and go lay by the pool if you don’t have a pool at your current house or apartment. Or if you need to get a quick pump in, you can go walk in to any door and go into the gym and use that to get a quick pump in. Or if you’re a thief and want to steal something feel free to walk in absolutely any door, the most convenient one would be the mail room door, where you can pick up packages that are left on top of the mailboxes or you can go into the lounge and pick up boxes that are left out of the oversized mail room. That is all. Please do not live...
Read moreIf you wish to be ignored when there are problems, this is the place for you! The main elevator (1 of 2 in a huge complex) has been down for three weeks with zero attempt to communicate the issue to residents. The leasing office lied to me and said it was miscommunication between them and the elevator company who didn't know it was broken. FALSE. Day 2 there was a workman trying to repair. I asked if other residents were upset, and the leasing office gal said only delivery people from Doordash were the only ones to complain. I know from other residents that is not true. Good luck if you live on 4 and have a dog to walk.
Maintenance team is the only nice staff. I'll give them that much.
The halls are FILTHY. People leave trash outside apartments and the hallway floors/paint look awful. Dog pee in the hallways and huge piles of poop on the lawn everywhere. The smell of urine in the parking garage is gross.
Pot smoke is the scent of choice. There are always potheads smoking it in their cars in the parking garage. Just sitting and lurking with their lights on. Addison PD can't stop them.
Look at the garbage areas on each floor. So gross. I don't know why being a slob is acceptable to the apartments.
Fire alarms go off often during the day and in the middle of the night. They are louder than should be allowed and it takes forever to turn them off once they are blaring. Management doesn't care because it's mostly not during office hours and they are home and asleep.
I'm a fool because the location is great, so I attempted to move out of my awful noisy apartment to a larger new one in a better location. They quoted me the price and I trusted they were of good faith. They next day they sent an impersonal email stating they were mistaken, and it was over $100 more per month. They planned to charge me an application fee, but why would I pay one to play their game. Yeah, that's a NO. I asked for a reason as to why the cost change and they refuse to contact me back. I even called management company TAM, and they operate in the same sloppy fashion. No response! The leasing office all knew they misinformed me. Two gals and the manager were present when they were giving false information.
Don't trust the website pictures. Many apartments are not updated and have rachet appliances.
I found a nearby apartment with a great rating and almost the same cost. Super nice leasing department and less ridiculous fees each month. It's also pristine everywhere (not just the leasing office) and they have standards. AKS didn't give two sh**s about me and would rather dispose of someone who pays rent on time. I work in leasing and would never spout lies like they have. I'd quit if my company made me falsify things to get more money
If you plan to consider this place, ask a current resident. The answers will be eye opening! They encourage people to write good online reviews for perks. That's low. I will add pictures of some awesome sights as soon as possible to give you more info...
