I was in Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Alabaster on Monday, February 10, 2025 between 11:45 and 12:00. I took my sons there to buy a baseball cup and when I got to that section, I grabbed 2. Each cup was labeled and advertised on the shelf as $11.99. When I got to the register, they rang up as $83.58. I refused the sale and gave the reason that these products were advertised as $11.99. The cashier asked the manager to come assist. When he got there and saw the sticker price as advertised, he told me that somebody must had forgotten to change the label. He then offered me a 10% discount. When I told him that I wanted it for the price that was advertised in his store, he became irate and told me that he would not honor that price. He then threatened to sue me in court because I started taking pictures so I could have proof of the interaction.
I have been going to Dick’s for a long time and this is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this. In addition to the products clearly being falsely advertised as $11.99, the manager was extremely rude and grossly unprofessional. I’ve never been threatened by anybody much less an employee of a store that I frequently patronize. I understand if a mistake was made, but it was not my mistake, nor did it merit the embarrassment I received at the hands of this manager. I simply went to the store to purchase a product and when the product was clearly listed as $11.99, I went to the register fully expecting to pay $11.99. One would rationally think that a manager would accept the mistake and honor the price instead of causing a scene over a measly $60.00. I know my thousands of dollars spent over the years is small potatoes compared to the billion dollar industry of Dick’s Sporting Goods, but if this type of behavior is indicative of what Dick’s stands for, you can count me out...
Read moreI have always had mixed feelings about Dick’s Sporting Goods, however today definitely sealed the deal. My father bought my kid a very expensive bike for his birthday. The child is only six, so for me $150 bike is a lot, but he didn’t mind and the child was thrilled. My kid has been on this bike all of three times and the housing where the bearings and everything sit inside the petals fell out while he was riding it on my driveway. To say that my child was upset is an understatement as you can probably imagine, my disappointment came later when I went back to Dick‘s and expressed the situation and was informed immediately that they don’t return bikes and they didn’t care. I manage a retail business, and I completely understand corporate policies, however I also feel that if a customer spends $150 on a bike and the child spins less than four times riding it before it falls apart, someone should say some thing at least more polite than that. As far as I’m concerned dukes will never get another penny of my money and I will make it my goal to post as many negative reviews on as many platforms as I possibly can to ruin their reputation. I can deal with a lot of stuff not being fair towards me, but towards my child, no, I don’t play that. Good luck with your business Dick’s Sporting Goods, I hope you go out of business. It can’t happen soon...
Read moreYou guys have several phenomenal employees working in this location. I was having a rough day and Erica, the store manager turned what should’ve been an extremely unpleasant experience into one that will guarantee I drive out of my way over and over again to do business with you. Again and again. Erica diffused a situation with an upset customer (me), one that she truly did not have to, she chose to go out of her way to ensure she made my day a little brighter. I was a little embarrassed with the way I handled myself, considering the circumstances. You guys have an absolutely incredible team, led by one of the most kind hearted humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with, Erica. Working with the public isn’t always the greatest job to have, Erica taught me it’s okay to be the better person today. Today, she most definitely was. Please find a way to make sure Erica and her team sees this review. Your employees DESERVE to know that their efforts go further and mean more than they could ever imagine. Thank you! Trey, the guy that WAS having a...
