Note: the owner reached out to me personally, assured me the employee would be spoken to and asked what she could do to remedy the issue - so I increased the star rating. For posterity the original review is still below.
Further edit: After speaking with the owner, we decided to give it another try. The same employee was professional, kind and respectful. I'm impressed. Added another star. The facility is clean, the machines work and are fairly new - standard for a planet fitness.
Original review
I have never in my life been treated so poorly or with such disrespect and contempt.
I work 60-70 hrs a week and am active in community outreach, leaving precious little time for workouts. So when I make time to work out with my son, I often only have 20 minutes or so. Check in is always, always an issue with one specific employee - he always seems to run into issues with their computer system. Although this often cuts into my work out time, I usually don't say anything, instead we just try to go only when he's not there.
Today was an exception. My son has a visitor's profile that was set up in Valdosta GA, where he'd work out with his dad and stepmother. He's 17 so he's within the guidelines for use of any PF. My home gym was in Valdosta when he first started working out with me - there was never an issue with his visitor profile being from Tifton.
My son and I recently moved to a town just outside of Albany GA. He is preparing himself to enter the air force and needs to work out often. Upon learning that there was a cap on visits outside of my home gym, I changed my home gym to Albany to help him. Today we tried to go work out and that same ridiculously slow employee at first stopped us, saying my son couldn't work out until he updated his visitor's profile, then refused to update the profile because my son had forgotten his driver's license at home - even though there's a picture already on his guest profile for Tifton and it is clearly him. The employee then attempted to charge us to work out because my son didn't have his ID. What???!!! I am a black card member - it is my understanding that I could literally bring anyone into my home gym to work out with me, for free. In fact, this is the ONLY reason I have a black card, and the ONLY reason I switched from anytime fitness to planet fitness.
I have had no issues with any of the other staff - there's a girl that works night shift that's been courteous, respectful, helpful and kind. So I am appalled at what happened today; nobody deserves to be treated the...
Read moreAbsolutely awful, specifically for whomever the regional manager (who I was told was called) is. As a Black Card member who travels often, I was denied access to this gym while traveling due to issues with their membership software/interface. The 3 employees at the front desk tried to help me by calling the regional manager who wouldn't speak with me or my home gym to confirm my membership in the system, which was valid and up-to-date. I was told I'd have to come back Monday to have it fixed. Bear in mind I'm an over 2 and a half year member of Planet Fitness with over $500 of fees always paid on time. Luckily, I still had some traveling to do and stopped the same day at another Planet Fitness location and the issue was instantly corrected by the employees at the front desk who actually called my home gym to fix the problem. Since it was top secret who the regional manager of this particular location was and I was not allowed access to his/her number, nor did they want to offer any help to a Black Card carrying, and PAYING customer, I was embarrassingly DENIED access to this gym. I find it interesting that I can then drive 3 hours down the road and instantly have my issues resolved by the employees at the front desk. As a traveler, Planet Fitness gyms are hit and miss. This one is a major miss. I would recommend no Manager of the Year award to the one presiding over this particular establishment. I guess he/she had better things to do than properly manage their gym on a Saturday. Join Anytime Fitness in Albany, GA...
Read moreThis planet fitness does not care about your business. They were rude to me for no reason. I’ve been going to this fitness center a lot because it was the only big facility in Albany, Georgia. During the time I was going it was free during the Summer for students. So almost the entire Summer that I was going, I was just fine. I always used the mobile app to enter. Everything was just fine. One day there was a lady that was bigger than me that stopped me before I could even scan and changed my option to use the app on this day. She saw me before hand on other days using the app and it was no problem almost the entire Summer. This day she asked for my ID. She had so much attitude towards me. I asked her What’s the problem because I’ve been going there all this time using the mobile app. All I was trying to do was work out and do what I do best. There was a promo offered so I use the promo. I signed up through the app followed through all the requirements and used the app entirely to enter 95% of the Summer. She was very rude to me. She was the assistant manager I think. She bullied me and the other staffs members of Fitness did nothing to assist me. They treated me and my business as if it did not matter. I had no intentions of arguing causing a scene in this facility. I was trying to do what everybody else was doing and that was working out. The customer service was not there at all. The manager and her assistant were very insensitive about this incident and about me. God bless! I hope you get better customer...
