I loved this place. John B. Robert Dam is fairly safe. We pulled into the parking lot and had no problem finding a spot. (Although I assume during peak season the lot could get crowded easily). Be CAREFUL. You have to climb up the steep concrete slope of John B. Robert Dam while navigating between some concrete squares! Would not recommend running or jumping! (Could easily roll your ankle). At the top of John B. Robert Dam there is a quite large, flat concrete area to sit on or walk around on. You can do lots of other fun activities like coloring with chalk, walking, watching the sunset, and other things! There is a nice view of the mountains as well as a nice view the other direction, (not the mountains). One complaint about John B. Robert Dam is that during sunset, the sun is pretty bright and can hurt your eyes....

The two pathetic cottonwoods at ground level are now gone, as is Ed the Disappearer (RIP Robert Forster), but this is still worth a stop – not just for Breaking Bad fans. The baffled spillway is unique in the City – though nobody recalls water ever raging over the top to be baffled. Instead, it's sort of an inadvertent Public Art installation you can climb around in. Plus: go on a summer evening; many locals do. Climb to the top: on the other side is a spillway-long, wide paved platform where people congregate to play and watch sunsets with a panoramic view of 'Burque. Separately, lead characters Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, and Saul Goodman (Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Bob Odenkirk respectively) wait for a minivan to come take them away from the John Robert Dam. Their driver is "The Disappearer" played by great character actor Robert Foster.
The Disappear drives them to his ABQ vacuum cleaner repair shop where he hides them in a special room in the basement. Meanwhile, he creates their false identities complete with ids before sneaking them out of town.
