Cameron Square feels like home.
That statement describes our experience at Cameron Square Apartments of Alexandria, Virginia, and I recommend this location to anyone looking for a one, two, or three-bedroom apartment.
The people of Cameron Square make it special. Michael, the manager, is remarkable. Not only is he courteous, professional, and accommodating, but he is great with kids and considerate of the social wellbeing of residents. It is obvious this is not just a job to Michael; but this is service. And he is great at it. My daughter, only 2 years old, recognizes this same āspecialā something about Michael. Every day she asks to see āMr. Michaelā, and no matter how busy he is, he makes time to give her a candy or ask about her day. But the relationship isnāt one way; he often races out of his office just to say hello to my oldest. These small interactions make Cameron Square feel like home and like part of the family.
Ina and Chris round out the front office staff and are just as essential to the impeccably run property. Ina answers all questions, always has a smile, and resolves any issue. Chris, not to be outdone, provides equally good service to all and welcomes you with a smile. What is unique about Chris is that not only does he work here, but he lives here too. This is likely the catalyst for the care and patience he has with tenants when resolving issues.
The amenities and accommodations are icing on the cake. The common areas are pristine, the hallways are as silent as a library, and the other tenants are cordial and friendly. In terms of the pricing and the space, you get what you pay for and we are not disappointed. We have plenty of space, modern appliances, well lit spaces, and convenient access to shopping and transportation. The cleaning staff keep the place fresh, clean, and sparkling.
So you understand this review is honest, I will highlight one area of improvement. The trash area can get quite full over the weekend but the cleaning and office staff resolve it immediatly by Monday. They even put reminders on trash chutes or in the elevators to give every tenant a ātidy tipā when needed. The tenants present challenges but the front office provides solutions.
Everything above combines to make Cameron Square a top recommendation for apartment living. This place feels like home and the people make it even better. If you need an apartment close to Washington DC, make your way to Cameron Square Apartments in...

Consider this a heads-up about Cameron Square Apartments, which might seem like the best option in the Landmark area of Alexandria, but there are some important factors to consider.
The Upside: The apartments themselves are quite nice. I lived in a two-bedroom unit that was very modern, with a spacious kitchen and oversized bathrooms. The overall living space was top-tier. The price (as of December 2022) was also significantly lower than neighboring properties, which is why I decided to sign the lease.
The Downside: Elevators: There are only two main elevators and one freight elevator for the entire community, so be prepared to do some walking. Fire alarms: The fire alarms frequently go off, as the complex shares space with retail. During my lease, they were building a Tropical Smoothie in the building and were testing the fire alarms almost three times a week. There are no truly quiet sides of the building to live on. Especially if you face Home Depot, you'll hear forklifts and trucks unloading and beeping almost every day. Additionally, the parking garage gate emits a loud sound when lowering. If you face the townhomes, be prepared for a sulfur smell. I'm not sure what causes it, but there is a persistent sewage stench. Next door is a senior living community, so be ready for firetruck and ambulance sirens almost daily. The water is frequently turned off for maintenance, sometimes as often as once a month. Despite a no-smoking policy, the hallways often smell like marijuana. The management office is okay at best. If you send an email, they likely won't see it for a few days. When you call to follow up, they conveniently claim they were just about to respond. Pet owners should be cautious, as there isn't a convenient place for walking animals. There is a thin barrier between Home Depot and the complex where people walk their dogs, but there is trash everywhere, and a main street is nearby, so you're constantly dodging cars. On the topic of pets, people donāt pick up after their animals inside or outside.
The majority of neighbors I spoke with were eager for their leases to end. I recommend walking around the community and neighborhood before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lived at Cameron Square for almost two years, and my experience was nothing short of amazing. From day one, the management team was kind, professional, and respectful. The community felt safe, welcoming, and well-kept, and the amenities were top-notch. The only minor downside was that parking was a bit overpriced, but that was far outweighed by everything else this place offers.
My one-bedroom apartment was perfect for my needsāspacious, well-lit, and in excellent condition. It truly felt like moving into a brand-new home. The natural lighting was beautiful, and I always felt a little more āluxuriousā than my budget should have allowed. Best of all, I never once saw a bug or roach in the apartment, which says a lot about how well the property is maintained.
The location is incredibly safeāso much so that I could leave my car unlocked without worry. Thereās a daycare nearby, as well as a nice park where kids can play safely. My neighbors were quiet, respectful, and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. While the community itself is quiet, the walls are on the thinner side, so being mindful of noise is important.
One of my favorite memories here is enjoying the outdoor amenities with friends and familyāit truly felt like living in a luxury home where everyone could relax and have fun together.
Iām only moving because Iām relocating to Korea, otherwise Iād happily stay here much longer. I would recommend Cameron Square to anyoneāwhether youāre single or starting a family, this place is outstanding, safe, and truly...
