While the property itself is undeniably attractive, my experience at Cameron Square has been far from positive. One of the most troubling issues has been a persistent sewage/waste odor in my unit, which has affected my quality of life on a daily basis. I’ve lived in two separate units on different floors, and have experienced the same problem suggesting a deeper issue that remains unresolved. Additionally, my car was vandalized in the so-called ā€œsecureā€ gated garage, resulting in over $12,000 in damage, with the possibility of a total loss. This incident is even more upsetting because several other residents had previously reported car break-ins. Despite this, management seemed to have done nothing more than notify the police and failed to implement preventive measures to protect residents’ vehicles. Considering residents pay a minimum of $100 per month for parking (increased to $125) the lack of adequate security is unacceptable. It would have been more prudent for management to invest in hiring security personnel, especially given the premium rates renters are paying. These ongoing issues make it difficult to recommend Cameron Square to potential tenants.

Cameron Square has been a wonderful experience. I moved in 2021 so that should be a testament to the service and experience at this apartment. No complex is without its issues but where Cameron Square shines is where websites don’t capture. Mariah, Rob, and Terrence have made this a great experience from start to finish (although one month y’all owed me free parking but it’s cool lol). They have always been receptive. The events are always fun and it’s nice connecting with other residents. But where this building really shines is the residence. Over the years we got to know each other and have hung out, wineries, party buses, karaokes etc. It really felt like a community. Some great memories at this building. Moving on for the greener pastures of home buying, but if you are looking for an apartment, take a tour. Cameron square shines. The pool is great, the community room is great for hosting, and the game room is great for entertainment. You won’t regret moving here. Thanks Maria, thanks Rob, thanks Terrence. Also - if you’re interested in learning about colognes, Terrence is your guy.

So AMAZING I had to move back! I left Cameron Square due to a military move and recently relocated back to the area. When I came to tour it was like a family reunion as Robert the property manager is still here. Davida the assistant property manager was extremely pleasant and very helpful in narrowing down the right floor plan. The building has been kept up very well and that made it an easy decision to make Cameron Square home again. The process from start to finish was very smooth and efficient. On move-in day Maria made sure I had everything I needed and even checked on me to make sure the move went well. I’m so glad I decided to move back and my apartment already feels like home. I highly recommend Cameron Square if you value a nice apartment home, exquisite customer service, and a great maintenance team. Thanks Robert, Davida, and Maria for all your assistance and welcoming me back to Cameron Square.

Cameron Square feels like home.

That statement describes our experience at Cameron Square Apartments of Alexandria, Virginia, and I recommend this location to anyone looking for a one, two, or three-bedroom apartment.

The people of Cameron Square make it special. Michael, the manager, is remarkable. Not only is he courteous, professional, and accommodating, but he is great with kids and considerate of the social wellbeing of residents. It is obvious this is not just a job to Michael; but this is service. And he is great at it. My daughter, only 2 years old, recognizes this same ā€œspecialā€ something about Michael. Every day she asks to see ā€œMr. Michaelā€, and no matter how busy he is, he makes time to give her a candy or ask about her day. But the relationship isn’t one way; he often races out of his office just to say hello to my oldest. These small interactions make Cameron Square feel like home and like part of the family.

Ina and Chris round out the front office staff and are just as essential to the impeccably run property. Ina answers all questions, always has a smile, and resolves any issue. Chris, not to be outdone, provides equally good service to all and welcomes you with a smile. What is unique about Chris is that not only does he work here, but he lives here too. This is likely the catalyst for the care and patience he has with tenants when resolving issues.

The amenities and accommodations are icing on the cake. The common areas are pristine, the hallways are as silent as a library, and the other tenants are cordial and friendly. In terms of the pricing and the space, you get what you pay for and we are not disappointed. We have plenty of space, modern appliances, well lit spaces, and convenient access to shopping and transportation. The cleaning staff keep the place fresh, clean, and sparkling.

So you understand this review is honest, I will highlight one area of improvement. The trash area can get quite full over the weekend but the cleaning and office staff resolve it immediatly by Monday. They even put reminders on trash chutes or in the elevators to give every tenant a ā€œtidy tipā€ when needed. The tenants present challenges but the front office provides solutions.

Everything above combines to make Cameron Square a top recommendation for apartment living. This place feels like home and the people make it even better. If you need an apartment close to Washington DC, make your way to Cameron Square Apartments in...

Attention, Renters!

Consider this a heads-up about Cameron Square Apartments, which might seem like the best option in the Landmark area of Alexandria, but there are some important factors to consider.

The Upside: The apartments themselves are quite nice. I lived in a two-bedroom unit that was very modern, with a spacious kitchen and oversized bathrooms. The overall living space was top-tier. The price (as of December 2022) was also significantly lower than neighboring properties, which is why I decided to sign the lease.

The Downside: Elevators: There are only two main elevators and one freight elevator for the entire community, so be prepared to do some walking. Fire alarms: The fire alarms frequently go off, as the complex shares space with retail. During my lease, they were building a Tropical Smoothie in the building and were testing the fire alarms almost three times a week. There are no truly quiet sides of the building to live on. Especially if you face Home Depot, you'll hear forklifts and trucks unloading and beeping almost every day. Additionally, the parking garage gate emits a loud sound when lowering. If you face the townhomes, be prepared for a sulfur smell. I'm not sure what causes it, but there is a persistent sewage stench. Next door is a senior living community, so be ready for firetruck and ambulance sirens almost daily. The water is frequently turned off for maintenance, sometimes as often as once a month. Despite a no-smoking policy, the hallways often smell like marijuana. The management office is okay at best. If you send an email, they likely won't see it for a few days. When you call to follow up, they conveniently claim they were just about to respond. Pet owners should be cautious, as there isn't a convenient place for walking animals. There is a thin barrier between Home Depot and the complex where people walk their dogs, but there is trash everywhere, and a main street is nearby, so you're constantly dodging cars. On the topic of pets, people don’t pick up after their animals inside or outside.

The majority of neighbors I spoke with were eager for their leases to end. I recommend walking around the community and neighborhood before...

I lived at Cameron Square for almost two years, and my experience was nothing short of amazing. From day one, the management team was kind, professional, and respectful. The community felt safe, welcoming, and well-kept, and the amenities were top-notch. The only minor downside was that parking was a bit overpriced, but that was far outweighed by everything else this place offers.

My one-bedroom apartment was perfect for my needs—spacious, well-lit, and in excellent condition. It truly felt like moving into a brand-new home. The natural lighting was beautiful, and I always felt a little more ā€œluxuriousā€ than my budget should have allowed. Best of all, I never once saw a bug or roach in the apartment, which says a lot about how well the property is maintained.

The location is incredibly safe—so much so that I could leave my car unlocked without worry. There’s a daycare nearby, as well as a nice park where kids can play safely. My neighbors were quiet, respectful, and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. While the community itself is quiet, the walls are on the thinner side, so being mindful of noise is important.

One of my favorite memories here is enjoying the outdoor amenities with friends and family—it truly felt like living in a luxury home where everyone could relax and have fun together.

I’m only moving because I’m relocating to Korea, otherwise I’d happily stay here much longer. I would recommend Cameron Square to anyone—whether you’re single or starting a family, this place is outstanding, safe, and truly...
