I went to Geek Squad in Alexandria because was the authorized service for HP Laptops.
My problem was a little bit of liquid around the space key, beside that my laptop didn’t have any problems, I request them to send the laptop to repair straight forward but they insist that they needed to do a diagnostic and back up before sending it even, after a couple of days they call me saying that my battery was in bad condition because of water damage and they wouldn’t touch it because of this and if I wanted to send it to repair service I needed to go to authorized all this and go through the issues they find without even open the laptop by the way.
For my huge surprise everything in my software was different, new programs, new layout, etc.
When I mentioned those differences they suggested that my laptop was hacked but then they said they didn’t find any malware also the laptop was open at the bottom which wasn’t how I leaved two days before and according to then didn’t opened also they said that the battery expanded and I need several repairs.
After a very bad experience, some time arguing with them and requesting a refund of the membership they make me purchase which wasn’t necessary since they should send it to repair right away.
I take it somewhere else that was also an authorized service, this technician open my laptop in front, dissemble the laptop piece by piece, there wasn’t any water damage, the battery wasn’t expanded and was working perfectly and was just a minor keyboard issue, because of how my model was just required a simple keyboard change and will take just a couple of days.
I really feel scam by Geek Squad and I will never go back, between their diagnostic, necessary back up and just shipping cost they have 300 dollars, plus any other repair that will probably will end around 600 to 800 dollars, they have terrible communication and costumer service, they just don’t listen to the clients, their service is slow and they don’t even coordinate the information they give you.
Now my total repair will only take a couple of days and the total cost is...
Read moreI honestly do not like to leave negative reviews and I really truly have to be bothered in order to do so. This location thumbs down. I will say that I was taken right at 6 pm which was my appointment time. This is about the only good thing I have to say. My repair begin at 6:45 pm. I was told 1 hour for the repair. I got back to the store at 7:40 pm at 7:50 pm the technician let me know that my phone would need to be master reset OK no problem. That was suppose to take 15 - 20 minutes - ha! 1 hour and 45 minutes later I have a new screen but the phone now can not be restored. My phone worked perfectly fine functioned well now all of a sudden it can't be restored. I wouldn't be so upset if the rep would have just been honest an hour before then I could have made better arraignments scheduled an appointment at the Apple store something. It took me walking back 4 times to get an update before he decided to say he had no idea how to actually figure it out. The store closed at 9:00 pm at that time it was 9:20 pm I then told him to leave my phone alone and close me out that took an additional 24 minutes. My daughter and I did not leave that store until 9:45 pm. He said to me the screen works the phone just can not be updated. Well Sir I plugged my phone into iTunes updated/restored it and as it turns out the screen DOES NOT WORK. Go figure. Save yourself the time and irritation GO TO AN ACTUAL APPLE...

I was forced to use Geek Squad due to a warranty issue. I even tried a 3rd party, but the piece was too new and not on the secondary market yet. They sold me a lemon, and I was stuck using their terrible repair team. Geek Squad was consistently terrible with communication.
Specifically: A) They could not tell me which piece was broken on my computer. No specifics were given. When I talked to a representative, they just passed the problem on to another person. Oh, the person at the repair facility knows that. I don’t have that info. Can I contact them directly?, Oh no, you can’t contact them. B) Their online system actively lies to you. I was stuck on phase 3: We have your parts and are awaiting repairs. When I called them and asked why I was stuck on this for 2 weeks, they reported that they don’t have the parts, they are on back order, and there is absolutely no timeline for getting them.
WORST PART– Return of the computer. After 3.5 weeks without my computer and any communication, I got a FedEx notification about a package coming to me. BUT they are sending it to my old residence. Can I update the delivery address, nope. Can I contact someone at Best Buy to update it for me? NOPE. I literally had to ask the people who purchased my old house to pick up the package for me, and I had to go...
