I was at Union House Saturday night after a company party.. we had a great time and had a few rounds of drinks with the very friendly and attentive bar staff! We stepped out once to have a smoke and didn't really mind when our drinks were cleared from our table even though they were covered with bev napkins and other people took over our table when we returned! We were having fun! Unfortunately things went south extremely quickly when an apparent regular and his wife felt that my friend and I were too close the their space at the bar as they were having dinner at midnight. I asked her if this was enough space for her when I was just trying to close out my tab and I was told if my boyfriend or I "touched his wife again" he would murder us. ... and he looked me in the face and used the word MURDER several times . We were then basically kicked out even though we were attempting to close our tabs as this "regular" and a few others patrons basically ganged up on us and continued to scream "kick them out!" at me, my boyfriend and the couple we were with... that he will MURDER Us if we came near his wife ever again. Needless to say I will never go back to this establishment. The regulars tonight that threatened "murder" so loosely and the staff and security that so quickly kicked us out is the reason I will never go back to this place. The older security guard also said "don't worry you won't get stabbed" as we were leaving on our own!
As a former Server, bartender and restaurant manager of 10 + years I am disgusted and offended that we were treated this way and our safety and lives were basically threatened. I hope that this isn't typically how paying customers are...
Read moreWe came for brunch, and let me tell you—it exceeded all expectations. Our server, Eric, was absolutely brilliant, even if he happened to be a Buffalo fan (we’ll let that slide).
I started with the Breakfast Skillet, a warm medley of sautéed potatoes, peppers, onions, and chorizo, topped with perfectly cooked over-easy eggs. The flavors melded together beautifully, but I have to admit, it left me wanting more—it felt like an appetizer, so I did what any food lover would do and ordered the French Toast. And oh my goodness, OMG barely begins to cover it. Imagine thick slices of bread soaked in rich egg batter, crisp on the outside and meltingly soft on the inside, topped with cinnamon, powdered sugar, whipped cream, fruit, syrup, and, of course, a side of crispy bacon. Each bite was a sweet, decadent dance of flavors.
My dining companion opted for the Country Omelet, packed with tasso ham, andouille sausage, cheddar cheese, onions, and peppers, and served with home fries that had their own mix of onions and peppers. Abi couldn’t stop raving about it—he swears it’s one of the best omelets he’s ever had.
As an iced tea enthusiast, I warned Eric early on, and he didn’t disappoint—my glass stayed full. My mate enjoyed their Mimosas, finishing off the morning with a bold Irish Coffee.
The atmosphere? Cozy yet vibrant, perfect for a laid-back brunch. Next time, we're definitely checking out the whiskey bar. If you're in the area, I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely be back for those...
Read moreSome street parking and a few garages around here. It was mostly empty when we came and the food was delicious. We were a little disappointed as there are some items on the menu that the server explained that they were taking off the menu [Oyster Rockefeller & Brick Chicken]. It would have been helpful knowing this ahead of time before we attempted to order.
The service was alright, it was a little slow for how quiet the restaurant was. We often had to ask to get a refill on our waters. I ordered a glass of sangria which was good but pretty Cinnamon heavy and also a lot of ice.
For our appetizers, we ordered the Fried Oysters and our friends ordered the Pretzels & Dips. The Fried Oysters were delicious and I absolutely recommend. The oysters were all different sizes though, some being quite small. We didn't try the Pretzels but our friends indicated that they were decent except the Pimento Cheese was hard to dip/spread since it was more like shredded cheese.
For dinner, I ordered the Shrimp Po'boy and my boyfriend ordered the Parmesan Crusted trout. The Shrimp Po'boy was good, little difficult to eat since the bread was pretty thick and there were thick slices of tomato on there. Fries were great and well seasoned. The trout was also delicious and very well cooked and seasoned.
We ordered a cheesecake for dessert which was pretty standard. There was some Strawberries on top.
A little pricey but we would probably come back and sit at the bar to try more...
