2 stars is for food, location, appearance and friendliness of staff upon entrance. The movie experience itself is another story. I am so disappointed in this place as I have never been to a movie theater as loud as this place. The location is excellent and it is very nice looking inside. I was very impressed as I thought it was a low tier type of theater. I typically only go to Cinebistro for a more upscale movie night with better food choices. I didn't expect the food choices to be as extensive and indeed the nachoes I ordered did not disappoint. Other than the location, appearance and food (limited due to first time there) everything else was down hill.
1st a large group was in the movie and they caused a lot of commotion during previews. No staff member asked them to be quiet at all. They stood up, fought over seats (teens) and even the adults were loud and standing up and having conversations even when the previews started. This continued even when the movie started for about 20 minutes. SOLUTION: The staff needs to enforce respect for others and a noise level. But they themselves are noisy so training needs to be done 100%.
2nd. they allowed people to order food when the movie was playing so there were servers walking in and out for about 1hr into the movie. They were talking to take orders and bring food and people were loud, they were walking in front of us the entire time and up and down the aisles and it was very disruptive. SOLUTION: Food orders need to be stopped when previews start to prevent orders and late food arrivals. If people want food after the cut off time they should be required to go out an order and pick it up themselves or use the app for pickup themselves.
3rd they had an area in the back where they were setting food in order to take it to people. I guess they were separating it. The servers had to turn on the light to see the food and we were on aisle F, so the light was shining in our faces. They place food on paper that makes a lot of noise so as they are separating food they are ruffling the paper. SOLUTION: They need to bring 1 or 2 orders at a time and know exactly where they are going. They should not be allowed to use a light in the theater as this is basic and very disruptive. They need to eliminate the paper used in trays as it makes too much noise. This is not a good executive decision to use this paper at all.
4th. The staff approaches us to ask if we had any trash that we wanted them to take away while the movie was still on. This is so disruptive as they are walking back and forth, having conversations and ruffling paper as they clean up with the movie on. They also approached us to finish tabs while move is still going on. SOLUTION: They need to make you pay up front when you order so they don't have to come back.
5th. The seats are very close together, not as much space as other theaters who offer this experience and so there is no separation between you and strangers., At places like Cinebistro 2 seats are connected but there is some sort of separation next to you. A stranger and I were fighting for arm space.
6th The most disruptive one of all is the doors they use. They are not soft close doors so everytime someone enters the theater the door slams shut and bounces 2 more time for complete closure. So imagine all the bathroom breaks, food orders, food clean up and people entering and exiting the door. I counted how many times the door bounced closed and it was 47 times. Now I started counting 1 hr into the movie as in the 1st hour of the movie it was every 2-3 minutes nonstop and I was too annoyed to count. There was no point in counting as it was excessive. Definitely way more than 47 times. SOLUTION: You need new doors as this is unacceptable.
I honestly will never be back unless it's a kids movie where I expect the disruptions. It's such a shame as the place is so cute inside and very nice and the food is very...
Read moreVery Racist!!! Kicked me and my 3 year old son out because he was LAUGHING during the movie. Not only kicked us out, but also called the police on us before actually telling us that we had to leave. The manager Liz M. came over to tell me that we would possibly have to leave if I couldn’t get him to stop from laughing “making noises” until coming back again asking if we could leave. I told her that I didn’t know that laughing was a problem and I never had that problem about laughing before. I asked her if it was okay if we had a few more seconds because he only laughed and started saying “Aqua man” when he dropped his aqua man toy under his seat. By that time one of the associates who came over to bring me out to go boxes I asked for came to help me get the toy from under the seat as I started packing up. Then the other manager Naveen L. came over and just stood there staring at us saying nothing then said something to the girl and then he started helping her lift the seat cushion to get my sons toy then he proceeded to stand there and look at me as I boxed my food until I asked him “what was he standing there for”?! He said because the police were on their way… I then asked him why was the police being called for and he proceeded to say because I was asked more than once to leave and that I had refused. I told him I never refused. I only asked the manger Liz if I could have a few second to get his toy he kept asking for so he could be quiet and that was it. She never said yes or no she literally just walked right off and that’s when he came over right after the sever brought our to go boxes talking about the police! I said why were the police even called we haven’t even gotten a chance to get our stuff and I was still boxing our food we didn’t get to finish nor our drinks, my strawberry margarita or my sons lemonade because we were literally rushed and aggressively put out. I still waited and paid my tab outside of the theater we were in and the manger Naveen L was really nonchalant after already being bitterly aggressive with my son and I upon telling me to “Hurry up” Before the cops came. I asked him why am I hurrying up?! Did I hurt someone? Did I threaten someone?! Why are you treating me like we did anything besides start getting our things to leave even prior to him coming over. I just felt discriminated against and profiled. Both managers also agreed to have the police put a criminal trespass on me for this because of my son laughing and saying aqua man! If that’s not racism I don’t know what is. I feel like it was handled this way literally because of who we were to them. We did nothing wrong and were already in the process of leaving before the man came over talking about “hurry before the police come”! Like...
Read moreThey financially ripped off my daughter for food she did not order and refuse to take accountability for it. First of all when you call the corporate office no one ever answers the phone. I had to email them just to get a response. I have called the Northpoint location more than once and no one bothers to call you back or answer the phone during normal business hours. And please do not lie and say that you do because I have left several messages since last Friday at both corporate and North point and no one has called me back.
My daughter and friends went to Northpoint to see Spiderman last Tuesday and their cashier was named Nicholas Cohen. He asked them repeatedly if they wanted an open tab, they consistently told him no. But since he was overzealous he overcharged them anyway. We did not find out about the charges until she went to camp and said that overdraft fees posted to her account and its all because of Studio Movie Grill.
My daughter paid for the chicken finger shareable meal for two one time at $35.19. But Nicholas charged her again later in the week at $42.00. Moreover, another cashier interrupted them while they were watching Spiderman and said he was going to ensure that they were not going to be overcharged but that never happened. They were charged together for multiple food orders instead of individually.
When I contacted the corporate office someone named K, who did not give her full name to me when responding to me by email tried to justify Nicholas's behavior. Not once did she apologize or attempt to see where these transactions went wrong. K tried to say it was a gratuity charge which was another lie and if Studio Movie Grill is charging 42.00 in tips then they will not have customers.
Then I explained to K what Nicholas did was theft by deception because he charged my daughter 's card twice for the same order. No one gets charged twice for the same item at any movie studio. But according to K, they do this all the time to customers.
Do you know that she had the audacity to say that is how their system works and that the charge would fall off. Today is Wednesday and not only has it not fallen off my daughter has accursed $36.00 in overdraft fees because of Nicholas and Studio Movie Grill and they refuse to do anything about it.
At this point, I want everything she paid out including the price of her ticket reversed because she owes the bank $72.00 in overdraft fees plus the $35.00 and $42.00, and while the bank said they would investigate, SMG and K's refusal to correct this matter is even...
