Their return policy is honestly ridiculous. I bought a shirt and skirt for an event, but once I got them home, the colors didn’t match what I needed. Since the receipt clearly says you can get a full refund within 30 days, I went back in to return them.
But then the girl tells me I can’t return the shirt because it was part of some weekend deal. When I bought it, no one said anything about that. There weren’t any signs next to the shirt saying final sale/no returns, and nothing at checkout either. If I had known it was final sale or not returnable, I never would’ve bought it. I only grabbed it to see if it worked with the colors I needed.
Even when I asked if I could at least get store credit, she said no. Seriously? Why not? They could easily resell the shirt at full price and probably make more off of it than I even paid. But nope. No refund, no exchange, no credit. I was actually planning on buying a few other things while I was there, but after dealing with that, I wasn’t about to give them any more of my money. So I just left.
If you’re gonna have a policy like that, put it on the receipt, post a sign next to the item, or at least tell people when...
Read moreI basically got accused of being a liar by the manager. I had just finished a large focus group where we needed before and after pictures taken in white tank tops or cap sleeve shirts. Of course I went to DownEast to buy several of each size anticipating needing many more than we actually ended up using. Because I had cut the tags off every shirt (I didn’t think it would look professional to have an $11.99 price tag hanging in every shirt when the focus group participants came in), I called THE DOWNEAST IN AMERICAN FORK and explained that I had seven shirts no one was using, they have never been used, still had the size sticker on them, only the tag had been cut off. The girl who answered the phone was very polite and said as long as I have my receipt and the tag, and they could return them.
I brought them in in perfect condition and the manager accused me of using them in my study and trying to get my money back! I was returning 7 of over 20 shirts purchased. I told her I didn’t appreciate being called a liar and that my personal integrity wasn’t for sale for $70!! She was soooo rude.
I will never shop at that DownEast again - ever! You...
Read moreDelivery of my furniture was a complete and total nightmare. I had to escalate to multiple "directors" at the company to finally get a delivery date. When we purchased the furniture, our address was never confirmed, the delivery was taken to an incorrect address even though I called, emailed and texted more than 24 hours in advance. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get my delivery by the time I needed it and my husband wanted to cancel the order. I would honestly share my experience and warn consumers about DownEast's inefficient processes, unreliable service and uncooperative personnel. My advice, have some quality checks, empower your employees to solve problems and respond to customer responses. Any of these solutions would have solved this...
