Alright. Store is clean, fairly well organized, and I was generally pleased with the shopping experience. I was able to get in quickly. Find what I needed at a price I was good with. Then i tried to checkout.
It WAS a 4 or 5 star experience up until this point. But, this is where it all falls apart.
I waited in a line behind one group. That's fine. But the lady running checkout was woefully slow. For reason I understood better once another lady came to help me.
She scanned the one item I wanted.
The price came up on screen.
Then the "offers and discounts phase began"
Its like endgame turns in monopoly. Wheeling and dealing. If you give me these two properties I'll discount your rent and I'll have a monopoly kinda stuff.
"Would you like to open a kohl's card today?"
"Can I use my wife's?"
"No, she would need to be here to let you use it."
"We can open one for you! You just need a driver's license and a debit card to pay it off!"
Okay, okay, hold up.
I don't want a credit agreement, and I don't want to deal with the maze of payments and nonsense. The 35% potential discount is simply not worth it.
So I said: "No, thank you."
But this poor store clerk, clearly battered by years of nagging and whining from management continued to push the card.
It was 4 times I needed to say no before moving on to the next phase of the checkout process.
The store card?
This is different. Instead of a credit agreement or whatever they have a similarly named, store points card.
You know. I might have opened this. If I hadn't been pushed the store credit card 4 times.
So I declined. 3 times.
Then I finally paid my bill, as my children who were born at the beginning of the conversation graduated high school.
This checkout experience is enough that the next time I need to consider getting a single shirt, I doubt I will return to Kohl's. This in no way a judgment of the poor lady working the register. She was legitimately helpful. And you might think, well she didn't need to push these offers so much.
Except.... I have eyes. The register has THIS MANY PROMPTS TO PUSH THIS ON THE CUSTOMER.
She was just doing her job. So I will not post her name of anything else about her. She was sweet, and tried to help.
Kohl's management or corporate on the other hand. This is gross and annoying business practice. And just because every store is trying to do this doesn't mean you get a pass.
Ugh.
TLDR: if you want to be hassled for opening store accounts, Kohl's is the...

The Amazon return desk is very convenient and this one star rating does not reflect that. It is Kohl's way of doing business that I take issue with.
Upon submitting my Amazon return I was given a coupon for 25% off a single purchase but was informed that it could only be used for select items. I asked which items and was told that it is difficult to know before ringing the items up at the register. There was a lot of fine print at the bottom of the coupon delineating exclusions and exceptions, but it was all very vague just the same.
So I selected 3 random items, none of which had any observable pricing on the price plaques above the shelves. All of the items described therein seemed to be absent from the available stock.
I waited 10 minutes in line, not entirely to the fault of Kohl's customer service due to current Covid virus requirements to sterilize the counters and keypads after each transaction.
Once at the register I asked the attendant to assist me in determining which products I had selected were eligible for the 25% off coupon I had been given. She told me that none of them were eligible. Then I asked her to tell me the prices of each, as I had failed to locate them. Then I just about fell over when I heard the cost of each item.
I promptly relinquished possession of said items, returned the useless and misguiding coupon to the clerk and made a hasty retreat from such retail madness.
Needless to say, I will not be returning to Kohl's for anything other than Amazon product returns. I will heartily decline any further Kohl's scam coupons and will stick to Amazon for my purchases.
The moral of the story here is even an Amazon return is more satisfying than a...
Read moreThe first time I visited Sephora in kohls (American Fork) I asked the sales associate to color match me with some concealer. She began to put the concealer on and a gentleman walked in to ask where something was. She took him to the product and he continued to ask her questions. Rather than telling him, I will be right back with you, she left me standing there for 15 minutes. I finally left! My visit to Sephora in kohls (American Fork) the second time was again, very disappointing. I waited in line and when it was my turn I asked the Sephora sales associate to color match my concealer (since I didnât have it completed the first time). She started to color match and the lady she helped before me came back in. She went to help her, which I was fine with. I had walked up to the side of the register to wait for her to be done and another lady walked up in line. She looked at me and said âI will be with you after I help herâ. I told her I didnât have time to wait. She looked at the lady who was in line after me and apologized to her and ignored me! I will NEVER return to that Sephora in American Fork again. Terrible customer service!! Not sure if Kohls hires these young girls or if it is Sephora. Very...
