I visited the Anderson, IN store on 8/29. We found a couch set that we liked. The sales price was $897 per piece. As well, we were informed by the associate, Ashley, that the 7% sales tax reduction would apply. We opted to continue looking elsewhere.
We also visited the Muncie, IN store, where we found the same couch set for the same price. The associate, Greg, indicated that the 7% sales price discount did not apply to this set because it was part of the BOGO exclusion.
We returned to the Anderson store, and Ashley greeted us and indicated that she had received a call from the Muncie store. She was mistaken in providing the 7% discount and could not grant the discount at this time. Her exact words were: “If you would have bought the couch at that time, I could have given you the discount, but I cannot now.”
I have a couple of issues with these conversations.
First, there was no evidence on the couches that the sales discount was not applicable. I have pictures of all price tags. It merely identifies the set as a “Hot Buy.” The advertisement does not exclude “Hot Buy” items. Rather, it limits the discount to BOGO recliners and clearance items. Again, I have pictures of the advertisement. There were no indicators at either store that the couch set fell into either of these categories.
Second, I have a commitment from a store employee to provide a 7% discount, who only removed this discount after being informed by another store. This is a failure to live up to ones word and is a major issue for me as a consumer. Even if the couch does fall into one of these categories, basic business decency should be followed.
At this point, Gill Brothers has lost a sales and a customer.
UPDATE: The manager called and offered to honor the 7% discount. Thank you...
Read moreMy review may change for the worse or better once my order FINALLY arrives. But so far not off to a great start. I was told that my order for my living room suite would be 6-8 weeks.... Well we are are on week 8 now and they are predicting another couple of weeks before it arrives at their store. Its bad enough having to wait 2 months for your new furniture but now when you start working towards being a 1/4 of the year that is just down right disappointing. Well we will see how the rest of this process goes and I will update my review accordingly. 10/20/20 Update - After spending hours in the store and even hand wrote the list of furniture items I wanted and gave them to Tennille. To our VERY disappointed surprise we are missing a seat that apparently did not get placed on the order form. This furniture store is not willing to make this right in any sort of way so now I have 5 seats for a family of 6. In order to get the 6th needed seat we apparently need to jump through hoops so we can hope to get 1 in the next 3 months. So if you want my advice, open a phone book, turn to the furniture section, close your eyes and blindly pick another place that is...
Read moreLeigh Alexander is absolutely awesome! She helped me select a loveseat for our new family room. She showed me many fabrics and pillows to go with it (and I had to have a pull out twin bed in this loveseat.) I told her I would give it some thought, as the room wasn't done yet. A couple of months later, you had a two day sale and on the last day I made a mad dash to the store on my way to work. I made a check out to Gill Bros, signed it and went in to the store and found Leigh. I told her I literally had only two minutes because I could not be late to work. I told her I wanted the loveseat I had selected, with the pillows we had chosen, that I wanted it delivered when I called for it, and there was a $50 coupon that came in the mail but I didn't bring it. I handed her the check and bolted for the door. Later, she texted me all the details, the total bill and filled in the check, inciuded a photo of new pillows because the ones I had chosen were discontinued. And the fabric is gorgeous! Gill Bros is low key sales, immaculate show room, and pleasant folks to with whom to deal. It is a fun experience!
Sincerely, Cheryl...
