I took my 78 yr old mom out and let her pick where she wanted to eat. I gave her choices from the restaurants in Anderson. She remembered eating at Perkins in Tennessee with my dad. My dad passed away several years ago so I knew my taking her to Perkins would give her some memories of my dad. Service was great which I was extremely thankful for because the server was extremely patient with my mom ordering. What I was disappointed with is the entrance way. The sidewalk was broken and the main entrance was difficult for my mom to walk on. It definitely wasnt handicap accessible. Perkins does somewhat steer towards the older crowd. I feel the owners should consider redoing the entrance way so the customers don't trip and fall. My mom was happy with the menu choices but the quality of the food it was definitely overpriced. For 2 meals and dessert I paid close to $50. The fish tasted old almost like a freezer burned taste. Since my mom wasn't complaining I definitely didn't want to ruin her experience by saying anything. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the hollandaise didn't taste right either. The dessert was amazing. If I was taking my mom to a restaurant just for the service I would rate this restaurant a 5 hands down but the overall experience i a little disappointed. I'm thankful my mom didn't fall and I'm also thankful for the stories my mom shared about her and my dad's times at Perkins in Tennessee. It seems by what my mom's memories are of Perkins and this one in Anderson that Perkins has definitely gone downhill. The one thing that remains is the service. I didn't get the young man's name that served us but if some random chance servers see my revue I just want to give a shout out and say thank you for being so kind to my mom. "I was there Saturday May 3rd around 5 and you boxed up the last...
Read moreMy husband made an order for one of Perkins "limited specialty" skillets; the Steak and Cheese Skillet, found under 'For Goodness Steak' on the menu, for me. To celebrate my birthday we both began drinking a bit earlier in the evening, so we decided to order through Tranzind; but, Tranzind did not have any of Perkins specials listed, so we called Perkins before hand and made certain they had the instructions, and informed them that we would be having Tranzind pick it up.
However, once the order was delivered, I noticed none of my instructions were followed; Tranzind as messed our orders up so many times before in the past, so I proceeded to call them and complain...the responder who answered my call instantly blamed all fault on Perkins and proceeded to force a three way call between themselves, myself, and Perkins; once we were all connected, the Tranzind Representative was completely out of control; constantly interrupting both myself and Perkins employee handling the call, as well as, responding in an extremely rude and aggressive manner. He then claimed he had called Perkins Personally and placed a new order from my husband, which was untrue.
I apologize for such a long review. I wanted the entire story known, and I wanted to point out that the two women employed with Perkins out of Anderson, Indiana, who are, Shelby (last name unknown, due to her being a new hire) and El Clamme (the shift manager) where in no way at any fault, and where completely amazing; El Clamme even went so far and beyond any obligation to make things right, even though the fault was so clearly not that of Perkins employees.
I wanted to make all this very clear and show recognition where it is...
Read moreWe visited Perkins almost once a week for about three weeks. The first couple of visits went well and we enjoyed our experience, some mistakes were made but were corrected and it was no problem. The last visit we had was for a dinner meal, we asked for our 1 year old’s plate to come out early so it can cool off before he eats. It did come out early however it came on a plate that was covered in crusty old food (no his). We simply asked for a different plate of food (cheese burger with fries)on a clean plate no harm no foul. The waitress snatched the plate and rolled her eyes from my hand and I figured she was having a bad night, still no big issue. She returned quickly and tossed the plate on the table and walked away. Of course I inspected the new plate and low and behold it was also dirty, and the food was the same burger and fries just on another plate. We asked the waitress for a manager and she says she is the manager. Now people at our table are starting to get frustrated knowing she is not a manger so we decide to just go somewhere else. We see another manager on our way out and stop to talk to him, he was very kind and wanted to defuse the situation and did a fantastic job trying to resolve the situation. He took down our number and email so the owner can contact us. The owner sent an email out asking me to call between so and so times. I called and he/she had already left to go home. I sent an email saying to please call and never received any calls from the owner. We like Perkins, just not this one anymore, the owner is also the cook and allows this sort of...
