I was in a couple days ago to sell some old comic books I had had sitting at the house. Nothing splashy: first appearance of Gambit issue at about 9.4, a few other somewhat interesting ones and a pile of $1 gems that just weren't worth much. I love comic books for their artistry, the storytelling, and the deep, rich history in the characters. However, for some reason I never remember seeing one as a kid so as an adult I lack that intimacy and familiarity with them that so many have. I was greeted kindly on the way in despite the place being pretty busy, and in just a couple minutes I met a gentleman (my apologies, I can't remember his name) who identified himself as the owner. Very nice guy, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and friendly as well. He quickly identified and was happy to see the Gambit issue, and we talked for a few minutes. He explained to me in a very down-to-earth way about grading, variables that change the worth of an issue, and a couple of other things that I found very interesting to learn. I came to sell, so we negotiated briefly, settled on a price we both liked, he came back with cash and I was on my way. The whole experience was super positive, very welcoming, the customer service was fantastic. And the sheer volume of comics, graphic novels, books and other related material was astounding. I have a 14 year old and a 9 year old and I can't wait to take them here, it's a slam dunk idea for a place to take your kids. On top of all of that, this is a truly local business, and I believe in supporting good businesses that serve their community well. This owner is doing exactly that, and he deserves to be recognized for it. Thank you again, sir! If you are into comics and graphic novels, from the first-time dabbler to the seasoned veteran collector, this is THE...
Read moreThis spot is a good one. Product from floor to ceiling and many different genres of comics. They run a lot of specials and customer appreciation sales/events throughout the year. I visited to checkout the Pokemon selection, it was solid, definitely different from the general Target, Walmart stuff. Staff are solid, not outstanding but helpful when asked. You can also gather with friends and play card games and other options they have at the tables in the back of the store. When the store is crowded you definitely feel it, you're going to move around even if you're standing still. Some would say that's great because of the amount of product available and others would frown at how the packed it is.I'll let you decide, for me it takes me back to childhood, immersing ourselves in the store, not a quick in and out. I didn't have much interaction with staff but I did catch eye contact with most of them but no greeting. I don't frequent the area but it was cool to check out. Let me know...
Read moreAwesome place! This was our final stop on our comic shop day and at first it was a little crowded and took some looking around to figure out how it was organized.
They may have just been restocking or appraising things on the shelf so that could have maybe explained a little bit of the clutter but be sure to look in every nook and cranny because you'll find a gem for sure.
I am a huge X-Men Onslaught fan and was looking everywhere to get something on the onslaught series that I read growing up. I got skunked all day long and then finally in the furthest back corner of the graphic novel area was this awesome Onslaught milestones X-Men book with all the combined onslaught comics. I have never even heard of the X-Men Milestones series.
This place is amazing. Now I know this will be the first place to stop on comic day now....
