I recently made an in-store purchase at the Kohlâs in Apple Valley and had a concerning experience during the pickup process. I selected a pair of Skechers shoes, size 13, from the sales floor â the box clearly displayed an image and size that matched the shoes inside. When I brought the item to the associate, he looked surprised, examined both the shoes and the box, then scanned it again with his device. When I asked what was going on, he simply said he wanted to confirm the shoes matched the box. I understand verifying items, but in this case, the shoes and box clearly matched in every detail. The way he went about it raised red flags for me â it felt as though I was being accused of switching shoes, which I found inappropriate and unnecessary. I continued to question him, and another associate interrupted, stating it was âpolicyâ to check the shoes. Rather than addressing my specific concern, she was dismissive and defensive, which only made the situation worse. I then asked to speak with the store manager and was told there is no store manager anymore. This experience was frustrating, and sadly not the first time Iâve encountered unfriendly or unprofessional service at this location. Iâve previously spoken to the former store manager about the lack of courtesy from some staff and the overall poor attitude, which continues to be an issue. Thereâs no welcoming atmosphere, no âhelloâ or âthank you,â and customer service is consistently below expectations. Upon him scanning a pair of sneakers, I informed him the price on the floor was less than what was being said on the register. I had to go back and find the item myself and take a picture because he couldnât be bothered to ask another employee to do so. When I returned, I showed him the picture of the item and said price. He just takes the phone out of my hand without asking, and I tell him to ask before grabbing my phone. His response, âIâm not going to steal it.â Very unprofessional, disrespectful, and zero customer service skills. With COVID pandemic only a few years ago, theft is clearly not the concern. Had my previous feedback been taken into account, he would be working in a different department where skills for customer service arenât required. Otherwise, the store itself and other employees are welcoming. May 2023: I like kohls in general, but this location in particular has been a continuous disappointment time and time again. There is a male cashier with no name tag (was informed his name is elliot) being deceitful to customers telling them their coupon wonât work unless you open a kohls credit card. When I pointed out that the coupon says ANY TENDER TYPE - he became hostile saying he worked there for 25years so he knows best.    Read moreWe placed an order online for in-store pick-up on 11/11/19. We were physically in-store when we placed the order and actually walked the items we order to the in-store pick-up counter. We were unaware that it takes an hour to process and that we couldn't get the items yet. This was no problem at all. Since we had the items in hand, we left them with the gal at the counter so they didn't have to send someone out to find the items. I received an email saying the order was confirmed. On Thursday 11/14/19 my wife went into the store to pick up the items. At the counter, she was given one item. Upon asking about the other item, the woman behind the counter replied "Oh that was cancelled." We never received an email that it was cancelled so my wife let her know that and showed her the email. She then replied saying, "Nope it was cancelled, you received an email and your money was refunded." Although the money was refunded, we never received any communication about the cancelled item and had no clue it was cancelled until 11/14. This is super frustrating as the items purchased were gifts for my mother-in-law and now we don't have her other gift.
