Yoga Alliance — Local services in Arlington

Although I am a member, there are so many ways YA does not serve the greater good in yoga instruction. For example new rules allow YTT instruction to NOT require "in person training hours". Now for $150 online you can become a YA registered Yoga Instructor while NEVER having EVEN ONE in-person contact with the lead trainer!!! YA has devolved our sacred teaching into a cheap money grab ... throwing out quality for the sake of churning out RYT200 teachers. I mean seriously, how can a student possibly learn this sacred art via "videos"?? It's absurd. The latest is a ridiculous logo/website change from orange to blue, destroying our branding and removing all our hard-earned search positions by changing the YA website. My studio would come close to the top due to the long-term search engine history..... all washed away now so YA can have a blue logo not orange. It's a disgusting, myopic, self-serving and frivolous change benefitting no one and harming all of us. If only there was another credentialing organization. Until then we are strapped with this organization, which does NOT embody the spirit of yoga and has reduced their "teacher training YYT curriculums" to let teachers be registered who have never attended A SINGLE "IN PERSON" TRAINING CLASS!!! Utterly ineffective... so now we have a sea of RYT200s who know nothing about the nuances and correct alignment in yoga—because they have NEVER INTERACTED with an instructor in person. I know I would not want to be taught by such a teacher. The horrific liability YA has brought on itself and all of our studios who hire these under-trained teachers is just a prescription for a lawsuit. When a student gets hurt in class due to an undereducated instructor, BLAME YA. This is just a part of their broader plan for money-grabbing at any expense. YA policies harm existing instructors who PAID FOR & WHO WERE REQUIRED TO HAVE CONTACT HOURS IN THEIR TRAINING. This new lax "whatever" training process harms studios and most importantly the PUBLIC. YA is leading our industry into an abyss until the first class action suit is brought against them for neglect and lack of a proper, realistic training program. Yoga Alliance is simply a money grab and does not abide by the ethics of yoga that they preach. I filed an accountability grievance in OCTOBER 2024 regarding a registered yoga school that violated YA code of ethics and was negligent in a way that resulted in the DEATH of my dog and it is now MARCH 2025 and I have heard NOT A SINGLE WORD from Yoga Alliance despite MULTIPLE emails from me following up.

Every time someone responds to me, few and far between, they simply say they are reaching out to someone else for more information, yet there is never an update. The RYS that harmed me and killed my dog is still in operation without consequence. I do not believe that Yoga Alliance has taken a single action to investigate my claim.

It is unacceptable to treat victims this way when they claim to be the standard holders of Yoga, yoga teachers and yoga schools. Absolutely disgusting organization that I will never again participate in. It makes me sick that I ever paid them membership fees and participated in the organization as a yoga teacher myself.

Shame on you, YA. If my claim is ever even investigated, I don't believe any action will be taken. Unethical, money hungry...

Yoga Alliance does not ask for criminal record checks for Yoga Teachers or Yoga Schools. I tried to report Yandara in Baja, Mexico to Marion and found out she was fired or quit in 2024! Yoga Alliance did not inform me or ask about how I was trying to report Yandara and the owners Craig and Christopher Perkins! This clearly shows Yoga Alliance does not care about your safety… it’s all about profits. EXTREMELY UNETHICAL AND SAD! It would cost Yoga Alliance nothing to get these criminal record checks. As a former social worker and as a current Yoga Therapist this policy has to change or there is no credibility! Your safety should be the #1 priority!! So disappointed in this corrupt organization!
