Read moreI had a disappointing experience at El Ray VA recently. Despite being the only guest at the bar, the bartender's ( Hispanic guy with grey sweater ) demeanor was unwelcoming and rude. He Slammed my drink on the bar, didn’t offer nachos nor ask if we wanted food. Again, we were his only guest at the bar and place was not busy. He had a very mean/irritated facial expression and looked pissed. Although it's possible he was having a bad day, his lack of greeting and dismissive attitude made it difficult to enjoy the beautiful day in Arlington, VA. I informed the manager about the situation, but their response was somewhat nonchalant. After the slamming of the drink, that was the last straw and we left. He had very negative energy. Sadly, I won't be returning to El Ray VA. Life is too short to tolerate such...
Read moreGood location, a bit hidden behind the main drag of Wilson Blvd. service was great, food and drinks were delivered quick. What got me was the portion sizes for margaritas, $12-13 and it was in a rocks glass, FILLED with ice. They definitely are robbing you. My gf ordered a traditional twills margarita and she liked it, I went for the more expensive Mezcal margarita. That thing tasted like an oak barrel. I’m pretty positive they infused liquid oak or something in it. I know my tequila and mezcal and this drink was not drinkable. The tacos were just ok or meh, nothing special and seemed to be lacking flavor. I wouldn’t return unless it was the only option. There are NO excuses for this place to not be stellar in every single area of the business. Too much competition to be mediocre....
