Sugarpop Candy Bar — Local services in Asbury Park

Normally I don’t leave low-star reviews, because I believe it’s easier to complain than to try to understand. But this morning at Sugar Pop, the lady working at the shop was anything but friendly.

The store was open, and while she seemed to still be setting up, she appeared visibly annoyed that my 5-year-old and I came in to browse the candy. When we asked about the price of a toy, she gave the amount in a dismissive tone and then murmured something under her breath.

At the register, she was on her phone with an earpiece in. She scanned the toy, placed it in a bag abruptly, set it on the counter, and walked away before I could even ask for a receipt (so I had to have it emailed). There was no courtesy, no “thank you,” no acknowledgment at all.

I visited this store with my daughter, and the first impression was disappointing. The cashier gave us an unwelcoming look as soon as we walked in. Later, I returned alone to purchase the chocolate my daughter wanted. Unfortunately, the experience was no better. The cashier did not acknowledge my greeting, and her attitude toward customer service was very poor.
