Growing up over twenty years ago, we came here to walk the beach because it was silent and desolate, surrounded by abandoned history. It was beautiful in its own way then, but also incredibly sad. Today, Asbury is a bustling, eclectic hotspot for great food and fun. The boardwalk is more for dining and shopping, not like other NJ beach boardwalks, but it's clean and full of life. Some of the older buildings have been repurposed, painted with murals and filled with stores and restaurants. The beach is clean and currently only costs $5/person/day, which is a steal in NJ.
