Oakie Mountain Shopping Center — Local services in Asheboro

Visited China House. I walked in and ordered a lot of food to take to a family visitation after a funeral. They worked hard to get our very large order ready, were friendly, and had everything ready and well- packaged in a very short amount of time, especially considering the size of the order. They got the order right, with 4 different orders packaged separately. I ordered: Spring rolls, wonton soup, chicken egg drop soup, chicken or house special fried rice (I forgot which one); House special lo mein sweet & sour chicken, sesame chicken, and fried chicken wings. (I ordered multiples of several of these items.) Everyone liked everything we ordered quite well, though no one seemed to enjoy the fried chicken wings. The shopping center as a whole is kept pretty tidy. I tend to stop by the Chinese take out to place my order, run next door for groceries, then swing back for my take out. The Food Lion is also well kept, and the staff is pretty consistent, so there's a good base of knowledge in keeping the store running smoothly, at least from my perspective as a consumer. I've swung by here probably 200 times on the way home in the last 18 months, for a quick bite, full-scale grocery trip, or to pick up a shower liner from the Dollar General, and have only seen the police here twice. It feels safe...

I shop at this Food Lion all the time. I'm not sure if I like the renovations they recently did though. I have to find everything all over again, but that's not the biggest problem. The main thing I'm concerned with is the aisles. They are now VERY narrow. I hope it was only like that because they were still moving things around when I went.

The Family Dollar is a good place to go to when you don't need many groceries and the employees are nice.

The Chinese restaurant has the best sesame chicken with rice I've ever had....
