Incredibly disappointing experience after visiting this place for the first time. Iâm new to the area & was craving fruta picada from a neveria like La Michoacana - this freedom ice cream shop was the only thing similar in the area. My husband got a raspado & I got a cĂłctel de fruta (which, to their credit, was much at larger than I anticipated), however the total came up to $30!? The shaved ice was mostly water & my husband ended up throwing it out. The fruit, although being in a large tray, was not worth the $21, as half of the fruit was no where near ripe enough to consume (we were told of the pricing after we had inquired for the reasoning behind the $30 charge, there is no clear signage & $30 is ridiculous for fruit & shaved ice). I had approached the owner after I had received my order about the mango being white and unripe & she unapologetically offered no solution other than âthatâs how I sell fruit.â Coming from a large city, I have never seen such outrageous prices for such poor quality food and shameful customer service. If a place chooses to price themselves higher up, it would make sense if their products were good quality & served with excellent customer service but neither are available at this establishment. I will not be returning, nor would I ever recommend anyone shop here, as I would rather travel 30 minutes to other establishments in Greensboro, where Iâve had much better experiences than at Antojitos Lore/Freedom...
Read moreIf you have never had what most consider authentic Mexican food, this is a good place to start. We had the elote, birria, and some ice cream. Nothing is exactly going to blow your taste buds out of the world but it is local and homemade and still is pretty damn good. Service isn't bad. The people were nice and it was a family working together, but it was a bit unorganized. It's not exactly clear where you need to go.
My biggest and mostly only complaint is the price. For two orders of birria, elote, kids ice cream, adult waffle cone, banana split, and chicken quesadilla we spent $85. I think it could be more fairly priced for what it is. And there are no prices listed anywhere which makes it hard.
Not mad and still...
Read moreWe stopped here for an early Mother's Day treat. This is a family owned ice cream shop connected to their food truck and Mexican restaurant. They make their own hard ice cream that's not overly sweet, yet you can have them add toppings if desired. I'd highly recommend the helados con churro, which 2 people could share. Everything is freshly prepared, and the service is friendly and sweet. They have amazing party piñatas for sale and some Mexican grocery items. The only thing I'd recommend is having prices listed. We will...
