Planet Fitness — Local services in Ashtabula

Absolutely do not sign up with them! Even though it clearly states online, that it is not Auto renewed unless you check the box they will automatically renew you. I called in September and was told canceled, and I expressed that I was not on auto renew. This month November I get a charge for two memberships and a fee because apparently they were trying to take money out. I get to run around first I'm told that it is like a magazine subscription that automatically renews. apparently they don't realize that those subscriptions you choose if you want to be renewed or if you would like it renewed in two years etc. reading some of the other reviews, now that I know it's privately owned, I know why I received an airheaded response. I then look everywhere to try to find an email because they say you have to email to cancel and I still haven't found one. I come to the reviews and I found one so I will email that and I also will contact my bank, with all the screenshots of the other members that have been screwed over and had money stolen. And yes it is stealing I only signed a one-year contract, you can't automatically sign me up for another year. As I said I will bring all my proof to my bank and I will be having them dispute everything and go after the money. I don't care if it's $10 I don't care if it's $41 and some change it's...

It was a nice place. Very clean plenty of workout equipment cardiovascular equipment. But what makes zero sense I wanted to join and pay right there I could not!!!! I would have to go online download the app and then follow the procedures and make a credit card payment online. I don't do credit cards online!!! So that's the reason why I only gave it to Stars. Pretty stupid of the business not to be able to immediately join there except having to go home to go on a computer or my cell phone to download app to join.

7/20/22. Thank you for responding to my review. To reply to you when I was there I asked if I could pay them right now and join for couple of months. I was told I would have to do it on line and pay with credit card. As I said I do not use credit Cards online for obvious reasons. I don't want my credit card info out there. I was told that's the only way I could join.

4/11/23 again I have not heard back from planet fitness about how to pay without using a credit card. I do not understand why I cannot stop out to pay a full year membership in cash or check. Worst customer service ever! This gym is privately owned which means they do not share the same policies as a real planet fitness. If you signed up at another planet fitness you need to check into this planet fitness twice, once with your key pass and then you have to sign in as a guest. You also can’t make reservations online for tanning or classes if you didn’t sign up at this location. The gym is clean and nice like a regular planet fitness but as soon as one of their employees opens their mouth you realize right away that this is not your ordinary planet fitness. My first day I told the employee I was new to this location and asked where the men’s locker room was, I expected a quick rundown of the gym instead I got a finger in my face pointing to the locker room. hopefully the franchise owner will take care of the issues at this location so it conforms to the great franchises policies and not the absurd failing policies that the owner of this location has...
