I’ve been to this business a few times (earliest couple times probably around 6 months to a year ago) and the experience was fine. However, I went yesterday with a friend of mine and was pretty disappointed, not sure I’ll be returning for a few reasons:
I asked for an sns manicure, and while the gentleman who did my nails was nice, the manicure portion that cost 10 dollars more, consisted of putting something on my cuticles, putting them in a bowl of warm water for a minute or two, and putting lotion on my hands and arms at the end (not really a massage, which is fine with me but illustrating the point). I don’t always do manicures with S&S, but haven’t had my nails professionally done in several months and I planned to pay more this time so that I could get my cuticles cleaned up, which I expressed. The only thing he did to my cuticles was use the electric be think and pushing them up dry while applying the powder with his fingernail. I could have spoken up more, and I’ll own that, but it was a little uncomfortable and the language barrier was evident for both of us, so I had a hard time with understanding what he was trying to tell me, and I don’t think that he understood what I was telling him.
I also got a regular pedicure and decided to give gel a go for the first time on my toes. I will say she did an excellent job cleaning up the bottom of my feet and my cuticles! However, she had already painted one foot and stuck it under the gel light and when I looked down at that time it looked like she had just clipped my toenails (one was straight up jagged, so I had to ask for her to file and shape them. I also tried to explain that I had a small chip in the corner of one of my big toes and that I might need to do some kind of tip there, but we could wait and see how bad it looked once she took my nail polish off. I looked down at one point and she was applying this gel type paste to my toe. I don’t know what she used and she didn’t say anything before she started. Again, Perhaps I should’ve spoken up at that time, but the language barrier was equally difficult with her as well, and it didn’t seem like we were communicating effectively with one another from the start.
When I go to check out, there’s an additional charge for eight dollars and the guy checking me out didn’t know what it was for initially - turns out she charged me $8 without asking/before applying the paste to my toenail for the chip. I also paid and extra $10 for a manicure that I don’t believe I received.
Oh and sometimes it can be hard to tell while they’re applying S&S, but the color that I chose is definitely not the color that was put on my nails. Was in the same realm, but I compared it to the colors afterwards because they were still sitting next to me and I matched it to something different pretty easily.
I know it’s partially on me because perhaps I should’ve challenged the cost more before I paid, and spoken up in the moment more insistently about all of these things, but it was just an uncomfortable experience and when my friend and I tried to communicate with them throughout (she was sitting next to me and tried to help a few times) it was hard to tell if they were understanding us because we had trouble understanding them. We did kind of say something to the gentleman that was checking us out, and he said sorry and gave me an extra punch on a card, which is nice I guess but didn’t really do it for me in this situation.
I was looking forward to getting my nails done for the first time in a while and left feeling kina disappointed and like I couldn’t believe I was just charged a $110 for...
Read moreI have never written a bad review. Here's the first. I have visited this location several times since the grand opening. I left a previous 5 star review. It's always a pleasure to see the owner, Justin, who is always friendly & professional. Unfortunately, I had a horrible recent experience. During my last visit, Justin was not there & the person that greeted me, Terrilyn, was stoic & rude. I was told to sit in a spa chair. The attached foot bath was not clean. She cleaned it begrudgingly after I asked. Things went from bad to worse.
Dreya came to do my nails. Her nails were extremely long, which seemed as if it made it somewhat difficult to work on a client. She didn't listen to my request. I guess she was distracted from texting on her phone. I think it is unsanitary to touch a cell phone or other things, then back to working on nails without sanitizing work hands. Dreya made a mistake on the nail length, then got mad because I did not agree to her placing another nail tip (a total of 2 nail tips) on my fingernails to correct the length, which was lazy on her part. All she had to do was take them off, which is understandable because mitakes happen. Then, she stormed off with an attitude instead of finishing the job, only for me to have to wait until another nail tech became available. All this caused my visit to be longer than necessary. Things continued to go from bad to worse.
I waited patiently for someone to work on my feet, only for the next pedi person, Ms. Kim, to go start working on another customer that arrived nearly an hour after I arrived. I told Terrilyn & she redirected Ms. Kim to work on my feet. At that point, I was exhausted, disappointed, upset, & reluctantly called Justin. I respect people when they're away from work, but this situation left me no choice but to call. Justin picked up & apologized, which I greatly appreciated.
Amber came to pick up where Draya left off. My nails were not the same length or shape. Therefore, I asked Amber to replace the tips. No acrylic or gel had been placed on the tips. She & Draya had chatted. Amber was frustrated with my request, too. I guess I was supposed to just settle for ugly nails. She was also a poor listener. I kept telling her not to place the gel lamp near my breast for my nails & she got an attitude. The audacity of me to care about my body, spend money for a service, & expect decent (not necessarily superior) customer service. Every nail bar visit is usually a $100 minimum for everything I like, so sub-par service is simply not acceptable. Most importantly, it should matter if a service costs $10, $100+, or whether the nail bar is fully or short staffed, customers should be treated respectfully. No discount off current or future service was offered due to the overall bad experience during last visit. I had to ask for a receipt...
Read moreI just have to share my experience on my recent salon visit on 9/6/23. I visited D'or Nail Bar, to get a soak off, new set and gel pedicure. I was greeted and seated immediately. When the tech came to work on my hands, I asked her if she'd be comfortable performing my service, because I was some anatomical differences. Not paying me any mind, she continues her phone conversation, airpods in her ears. She goes to pop my nails off. A few of my real nails she cut too short. I don't say anything. As she goes to file my cuticles, she cuts me. She can tell I'm uncomfortable but continues to handle me in a rough manner. The tech cuts me again, this time I react and she stops and stares at me. Sensing this won't be a good interaction, I politely asked the receptionist if someone else can do my nails. The tech immediately catches an attitude, starts slamming her equipment and walks away. I calmly sit and wait for the next tech to continue my service. Speaking in their native language, they asked the tech was happened, I suppose and she walks off to the back. The new tech asked me what happened, I tell her and she starts my service. Her execution was much better. During the service, she was also on her phone. One conversation, she was using profanity, to whom ever she was speaking to. Totally unprofessional for a paying customer to here. At the end of the service, I asked if I can come back and let her do my nails in future. She rudely brushes me off, as if she no longer wanted to deal with me. Ok let's move forward to the pedicure service. The tech, Laura, cuts my cuticles numerous times. She can tell she's hurting me because I kept jumping. The polish job was HORRIBLE. She only did a good job shaping my nails. The service is over, I pay and I leave. As soon as I get home, the polish on one of my toes comes completely off. I go back the very next day to get it fixed. The receptionist says, "how can I help....oh". Like you again. I show her my toes, she tells me Laura will fix it. I waited almost 30 minutes to have one toe nail polished. Laura was servicing another customer. Mind your, there are several free techs just sitting around doing nothing. The receptionist did check on me periodically and offered me water. The only positive interaction during the service. Laura fixes my nail just for the polish to completely off another toe and one other toe nail peeled slightly as well. It was a waste of $47. Since I was getting a basic pedicure, I didn't receive a proper scrub or polish. All of that to pay $30 to have a gel polish change service done at another salon 2 days later. Stay far away from this place. Don't waste your...
