I did some personal training with them and honestly for the amount of money I paid, it wasn't worth it. They lack communication with each other and new clients and there's this guys who sits in the front (he's bald) who quite frankly is just rude. I was supposed to have talked to my trainer before he left for his holiday trip about when I'd see him next and if there was any who he could assign me to (we agreed at our next session we'd come up with a plan because we were running late) but when I showed up he wasn't there and hadn't even thought about telling his coworkers about the situation. On arrival I was told there's nothing they can do about that and ignored me once another customer came inside. If no one on that staff wants to believe this, my trainer was Jamal. He was great until he wasn't. From what I could tell their membership/group kickboxing classes are great! Though I was never given a chance to experience it even after the mix up (they literally compensated me with NOTHING for wasting my time and gas...letting me have ONE free session would have been completely fine but no.). Idk if Jamal is even there anymore but my biggest piece of advice to anyone who gets with this gym: DO NOT TAKE ON A PERSONAL TRAINER IF YOU ARENT PLANNING ON ALSO PAYING FOR THEIR OTHER STUFF. when one trainer messes up, you need to be able to utilize other amineties if you really want to be able to enjoy the place and be compensated if there are problems. But if you just want a trainer, don't even bother. The only reason I chose personal training was because it works best for me in my weight loss journey, I didn't need any of the other options they had just someone who will give me a workout and teach me kickboxing. It was extremely disappointing and I was ready to never come back to this but after seeing so many people vouch for this place it's important that people are aware of the issues with this company because the billing is one thing, quality customer service is another but quality in...
Read moreWatch out for their contracts and billing practices!! They seem to care more about taking advantage of contract language to make a few extra bucks than about retaining members. I see this in some big chain gyms, but it’s very distasteful to me that a small gym would do business this way.
I signed up for a three month membership (Sep-Nov) knowing I’d be out of town in December and January. I paid a higher monthly rate for the shorter contract. When I got billed for month four, I reached out immediately to request a refund and explain my circumstances and intentions to return when I’m back in Atlanta. They didn’t care at all, and chose to keep my December membership fee and cancel my membership, knowing I don’t even have access to the gym for this month.
It’s not even about the money for me… it was only $75. But out of principle I definitely won’t return. If they were that desperate to keep my $75, they could’ve offered to apply it to February when I’m actually able to use it and I would’ve been perfectly happy. In my experience, businesses with these types of practices don’t last long.
It’s too bad because I liked their classes and even though some of the coaches I liked left for other gyms, I still was invested in this place.
I’ve heard good things about Pepper Boxing and VESTA (on the Beltline) so I’m going to check them out...
Read moreI wanted to get back into kickboxing and was thrilled that Roundhouse was a gym on my side of town! While excited, I was cautious having previous life experiences in gym culture leaning heavy towards toxic masculinity. My biggest interest was having a place with a solid community, rather than a punishing diet culture vibe. I was hoping for trainers that talked you up, rather than down. And an atmosphere that was size and identity inclusive. I was elated to find all of that in my experiences at Roundhouse Eastside! From the moment I popped in to inquire, T.C. was very welcoming and answered all of my questions with warm-hearted friendliness. He’s exactly the same as a trainer, with his classes being fun and upbeat! Also a huge shout out to trainers Rod and Jermaine, who give a banger class for beginners or experienced folxs! Plus I always look forward to meeting Niko at the door. His kind and friendly demeanor will brighten your day; and is always down to help with anything you might need. I’ve been here since June 2023 and I’ve just signed up for another 6 months. Overall, an outstanding place to get in an excellent sweat session, with positivity, and welcoming atmosphere to all! Really happy to spend my time and money here. A lovely crew and clientele, start to finish....
