Updating my review a third time to emphasize that trying something more than once or twice can really make a huge difference. This is my favorite restaurant now. I try to get there to taste the new menu items as often as I can. I'm a regular. I cannot wait until they have their own space. I love this food & everyone that works there is down to earth and cool & attentive.
Went back again & was definitely a better experience this time around. Everything was delicious! The Laad Naa crab noodles were great, oysters fresh and the dessert was the perfect thing to finish with. The yuzu mignonette sauce for the oysters was so delicious I drank it out the sauce bowl! I had the fruit salad in the coconut cream- it was so light, creamy, & fresh. Mint was a perfect addition- and the fruit was so sweet & ripe. My one & only complaint was the my noodles were a little undercooked& they were mushy & falling apart a bit. They were very busy in there & I personally didn't mind it too much. Great 2nd visit though.
Good food, good time. Food was good- I expected something a little more unique than what was offered for the price & the exclusivity but I didn't mind much because everything tasted good. The plates are a bit smaller than you'd expect but pricing isn't so prohibitive that you can't add on sides or add another dish. It's more fun that way bc you get to try more. I had a lavender drink that was not exactly my jam but if you like sweet & tangy drinks it's a good option! My partner had a Halfway Crooks beer on tap which was nice to see on the menu. Our server, Luna, was sweet & attentive. Overall, a solid & positive experience!...
Read moreA pop up restaurant in OK Yaki on Sunday and Monday nites. Where else are you going to go for Laotian food on the east side of Atlanta? Sure there is snackboxw bistro, but I’m not driving 30 minutes away. Laotian food is very Thai adjacent and shares the same dishes, where it differs to me is the focus on lime and cilantro flavors and salads. It’s a very refreshing and easy to eat meal.
The menu is somewhat limited menu. They didn’t have any Laap, but the crispy rice is similar. The crispy rice is so amazing, it’s addictive and downright delicious. The crunchy with the taste of lime and meat is out of this world. I would go back just for this dish. The Laad Na was solid. The noodles were down right delicious, and they did it right with dark meat. I love a papaya salad, and this was one of my least favorite ones, very fish sauce forward and I don’t think the papayas were ripe enough. Maybe if the papaya was right it wouldn’t have been so fish sauce forward. This is also a Thai fish staple as well.
We sat at the bar and it was a treat to watch the staff cook all the meals. It felt like one of those Japanese places you see in film with a large bar where you see the cooks at work. A smaller more industrial aesthetic feel than a waffle house. Service was great and the drinks were solid. I kind of hate giving this a 4 star and I could see myself coming back for a 5 star. Seriously where else does quality Laotian food? It just had two misses on the limited menu and the papaya salad. Bottom line, you should go. Perfect for a date nite or to share...

Every time I come, I HAVE to have the spicy papaya salad. As a Vietnamese person, the Laotian version of the salad is exact to similar when it comes to the flavor and spice levels of this dish. I cry every time I have one, and I almost always order a second serving for max pain - read, joy.
In addition, So So Fed's chefs are experts in cooking meats to perfection. The beef and chicken that normally goes into their dish is always cooked enough but not too much. This leaves room for the meat to continue cooking and bathing in the juices of the dishes they're incorporated into. I always admire how juicy and tender the meats come out in every dish I've tried.
I've yet to have one bad experience in terms of cuisine here. I've had the mapo tofu dumplings which are so juicy and well fried. The red curry chicken mixed with the eggplant and bamboo gives a strong and delicious flavor full of umami.
Today, on July 4, they had a special lunch menu for the first time. I ordered the meatball banh mi and the beef pho. The pho is the first time I've had pho ITP that's actually made well. The closest one to good pho here is Dai Loi in Forest Park, and I'd dare say today's pho is levels above Dai Loi given how tender the brisket and other meats were cooked.
This place genuinely makes me happy every...
