Fine print: Do not make reservations online as they have no way to receive them and you all (staff included) will be looking at one another crazy; call in to make a reservation or you may have a wait. With that being said, the manager was apologetic, kind and checked on us later during our dinner. She was amazing!
Our server (no name given) was exactly like Ms Swan from Mad TV, she was sick of everyone who came into her section, (laughing but very serious). She was very short on words and personality, didnât want to answer questions but was happy to see everyone leave. It was crazy in the beginning but hilarious at the end when she started being decent.
The food: We ordered the satay, chicken wings and pot stickers. I noticed on the appetizer menu there is not a detailed explanation of what you will receive. The satay is battered and comes in a peanut butter sauce with ground peanuts on top and something like a cucumber salad less the cucumbers. It was pretty decent though I was unable to share due to the dish being covered with peanuts/peanut butter. The chicken wings come ânakedâ but were really good and so was the sauce that accompanies them. The pot stickers were decent but were served barely warm.
For entrees we had pineapple rice with chicken breast and pad kee mao with beef and chicken breast. The spice levels; if you like spicy Thai spicy is the perfect amount of heat, while the hot will leave you looking for more. Both dishes were good with the pineapple rice being the star of the show. We asked our server about the different options and her response was flat and short, âdepend on what you like, I donât know what you likeâ. At the end she tells us she prefers this and that, thankfully it didnât ruin our night.
Take away: Food is decent, the atmosphere is low noise, good music and very calm/trendy atmosphere. Itâs a take it or leave it situation. The service always either adds to the food or takes away from it and the service was not the worst, but it was far from the best. If you donât mind playing Russian roulette you may love this place on the...
Read moreI was excited to try this place. I had heard good things about it, seen the good reviews, and was ready to find quality Thai food in Atlanta.
I was severely disappointed. I went with my partner and the food we ordered was barely scratching the surface as âthe best Thai food in Atlantaâ as some reviews say.
We ordered the pot stickers and they came out with a small pile of bean sprouts on top. Once we dug past those and tasted the pot stickers, they were not hot whatsoever. We ate 2 off the plate (you receive 7 total with each order, this is important). The inside stuffing did also not have a very pleasant taste. They were not fresh at all. Anyone could tell that they had been sitting out for a bit, and it seemed that in order to hide that, the restaurant threw bean sprouts on top.
Once our food came, we told our waitress and she took them back. They came back some very quick minutes later, with 5!!!! on the plate, and a whole new batch of bean sprouts on top, to hide the fact that they had been microwaved.
Our food was fine; there was nothing spectacular or 5 stars about it. The only reason Iâm giving it 2 stars is because my Pad Zu was good, but undetectable of a âhome-made sweet soy sauce.â There was nothing about this food that screamed âbest Thai food in Atlanta.â If you want food that will satisfy your cravings for ANOTHER Thai restaurant, this is the place for that. I saw another review that said something along the lines of the quality of this food does not match the price, and I think that as well. We spent over $50 for something I couldâve...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Spoon Eastside, a Thai restaurant that came highly recommended by my colleagues. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that set the stage for a fantastic dining experience.
Our server, Robin, was exceptional. He took excellent care of us throughout our meal and made fantastic recommendations, especially for those of us trying Thai food for the first time. His attentiveness and knowledge of the menu truly enhanced our dining experience.
We started with the Fried Spring Rolls, a delicious vegan option that was perfectly crispy and flavorful. For drinks, I opted for the Thai Iced Tea, which quickly became my favourite with its perfect balance of sweetness and rich tea flavour.
For the main course, I chose the Red Curry (Kang Dang) with chicken. This dish was a delightful mix of fresh vegetables, including eggplant, bamboo shoots, and zucchini, all harmonized with a hint of Thai basil. The complexity and spice of the curry were just right, making each bite a flavorful adventure. We also ordered an extra bowl of rice, which complemented the curry perfectly.
Overall, Spoon Eastside provided an outstanding dining experience. The ambiance was pleasant, the food was delicious, and Robin's excellent service made the evening memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy authentic...
