There are a handful of beachwear shops in the area, and while my son and I were waiting for our room to be ready, we tried four of them. This store was the absolute worst. Sure, all the items for sale are comparable to that of a typical beachwear store, but the people who work in this store lack the most basic human decency. I was shocked by the gaul of the sales person who had the nerve to openly insult me as I was walking out the door after I made a purchase. I was not a problem customer. I went in, found the item I was looking for, went to the checkout, and paid. Initially, he was very polite. Referring to me as “ma'am” and “young lady” throughout the transaction. However, when it became necessary for me to speak (I don't have the most feminine sounding voice), his attitude instantly changed. He became cold and hostile. As I was walking out the door, he said “I'm not sure if should say ma'am or sir”. Both me and my son were both taken aback by the clear insult. It was completely unnecessary. If he had a problem with the fact that my voice isn't feminine enough, he could have done the decent thing and kept his opinion to himself. The only possible motivation he could have had was that he intended on being a jerk. What kind of person is rude to stranger out of the blue without provocation? This experience did, however, give me the opportunity to teach my 13 year old all about micro-aggressions and I was able to point out that he had just witnessed a perfect example. Avoid this store. Go to Paradise Beach Shop right down the road. Their stock is much higher quality and the staff there is awesome and professional. Pacific Superstore does not deserve...
Read moreI purchased a beach umbrella that broke within the first 10 minutes of use. At first the woman behind the counter said she would allow me to exchange it (there is a sign behind the counter that says no returns, exchanged with receipt) but then as I was finding something to exchange it for they approached me and said the manager told her no. I spoke to him (an incredibly rude and dismissive curmudgeon behind the decal counter) who said the policy was no returns on beach umbrellas. There is nothing to state that policy either up in the store or on the receipt, and when I pointed it out he said he would let me exchange it for the exact same umbrella. I finally agreed so I would at least have something, but he then said it was not defective because I was the only one to bring it back. I argued that by definition meant this particular one was defective, but he then told me I'd have to take it up with the owner who was of course not there. He would not tell me his name,...
Read moreI have stopped at this store on my way home numerous times to purchase items to take to Fla. This past weekend, I stopped and bought a Hawaiian Tropic beach chair. There was one on display, which I sat in and made the decision by. I picked up a folded one off the rack, bought it, packed it in my car and drove home to Md. When I unfolded it I saw the seat was cut about 3/4 of the way. The cut was obviously made by a knife. Most likely when store employees cut open the box it was in. I called the store, spoke to manager. While he was sorry it happened, he couldn't or wouldn't offer any type of help. I could drive 375 miles to return it, but hardly worth that. Make sure you inspect any item purchased here before leaving and be aware you may not get much customer service help if there is a problem. Due to complete non-cooperation, this will be my last stop here. Too many other buying...
