Anytime Fitness — Local services in Auburn

This anytime fitness scrubs bad reviews so let’s see how long this stays up. It is also suspicious that all the recent reviews for this particular Anytime are so positive and there are so many, ( I looked at other locations as well) businesses don’t generally receive this many positive reviews in such a short period of time and I am suggesting that not all reviews are made by gym members. Anytime Fitness in Auburn CA has really gone down in quality since September 2024. I have noticed that equipment is ignored but a new wall covering with some chains was put up (to cover a hole in the wall) mean while the toilets don’t work properly, management put a sign requesting members to pull up on the handle after flushing, ( two different signs actually, instead of fixing it, the second sign is so professional) and one cable machine has needed a new cable since March of 2024 when I joined. Most of the tread mills don’t work properly, bikes are not kept in good repair, and things were frequently missing or broken on cardio equipment. I stuck it out for the one year contract, it didn’t get better. Just went in to cancel and was told I had to do it via email or phone call. When I emailed they replied that it would take 5-7 business days or longer to process my request to cancel my membership. The phone number was no better first I was told that they could freeze my account. I said no cancel my membership, then I was told they had to check that my card was active before they could cancel and then I was still told it would take 5-7 business days to process the request to cancel. When I said I wanted to cancel immediately they said I had to make a request to cancel 30 days in advance due to my contract but my contract is expired and I am not obliged to notify them in advance. So by delaying the request to cancel 5-7 business days this will allow them to bill my account again as they bill fortnightly. Very clean gym. Kind and knowledgeable employees. Open 24/7. Showers, classes and personal training available at additional fees. $35 annual fee twice a year, somewhat average but on the higher side. The equipment is dated but obviously well maintained, kudos!

Some disadvantages to note:

No lockers, cubbies small and are next the exit, but staff is attentive and there are cameras through out. Member entrance requires a key fob. There are 3 bathrooms, only 2 have showers attached. This is good for privacy, but the concern is availability. Shower head is detachable, which is cool. Unfortunately there are no ledges within the shower to place your soaps. I don't like putting my soaps on the ground so this was disappointing. It being a small gym, equipment is limited but the number of occupants is said not to be a barrier. Machines are very close together. Dumbbell area is a bit uncomfortable. The membership fee is biweekly, and at the time of this review equates to $40-55 per month. Although the claim is other 24/7 gyms is around the same price, there are other 24/7 gyms starting at $10/month which is hard to beat but relatively far from Auburn. Prices are subject to increase though claimed not happen often.

Overall this is a considerable gym to join if youre looking for the convenience of access within Auburn and to go at all hours, AND can honestly commit to the strict contract. It's a decent gym at a higher price, amenities could use improvement, it is very small which can be uncomfortable but it gets the job done with an authentic team...

Well, it is unfortunate that I have to leave this review. Love the gym, good staff, but they completely miss managed my account and I will never do business with them again.

My son was getting bullied a couple months into my membership, so I started taking boxing with him. The 4 day a week training regiment is so intense, that there is literally no way I can come work out at anytime period as I'm certain we are not even getting enough downtime for boxing.

I have tried numerous times to get them to let me cancel without a bunch of fees since this is totally out of my control or freeze the account at least, but they refuse to cancel with no fees and have Givin me such a runaround that I have ended up paying for over 6 months membership that I can't use. I literally have not stepped foot in this place once.

Maybe you're OK to come here if you can expect your life to run absolutely perfect...🤣🤣🤣...but otherwise, I would definitely recommend steering clear of this place as they clearly care not for thief members and will burn you if given the chance...three thumbs down, I'd do more if it...
