One thing I can say about JCPenney is that my mom loves this store, she has a credit card and shops with this store all the time. However today kinda ruined that for her. Between 630pm-730pm, we visited the store to waste time which we usually always do. She found a few things that she liked and purchased. One was a pair of glasses which she bought at the make up counter, the other was candles from upstairs which was purchased at the register by the salon. One thing she noticed , was a tall black man and short light skinned lady following us the whole time. She said they were following us from the time we were downstairs up until the time we were back downstairs leaving. In her eyes, there was no coincidence that they were going everywhere we went. I then noticed it too. Like they were everywhere we were. Just staring. I didn’t think anything of it. Maybe there were wasting time too until the store closed, which hours was closing at 8pm. But what confirmed this , as we were walking out the two ended up waiting in the men’s sections looking at us we were about to walk through the door. Then there was a heavy set man saying goodbye, as he was was saying it , he was looking down at my moms hands as if he was trying to catch her taking something. So my mom veered off to the buggies and sat her things down and reached in the bag to put her shades on that she just bought. I guess to show them she bought the items. I must say …. After all the years, money, and time we have spent shopping here I would never thought we could have possibly been profiled as thieves. My thing is , if you suspect someone is stealing, wouldn’t you alert security to handle it? Nothing is more embarrassing than to have people of the same race as you assume you are stealing. Never in a million years would I have thought that. Especially for my mom. She loves Jcpenney. So much that she probably has 85% of her clothes and jewelry from there. It’s sad to even phathom that someone would follow her around just because of what she looks like. Yea it may have been other POC in there but because she was dressed down, they think she would steal…. Let me tell you something , my mom could probably afford all three of this employees salaries and then some. On top of that I mentioned she has a credit card , so why in the hell would she steal??? If I saw those three again I would get there names and report them because they need training on shopper etiquette, how not to judge someone because of what they are dressed like. Y’all need to train your employees on how not to pass judgement unless given a reason to. That was very disappointing experience and I hope that didn’t steer my mom away from wanting to ever shop...
Read moreThis was one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. I placed an online order about three weeks ago that was supposed to arrive a week later. I waited three weeks and there was no sign of it so I called the 1800 number asking for help. They told me that it had already been there for over two weeks but nobody had bothered calling me to tell me it was ready for pick up. I then call the store and an employee said they had not received it but would check the back and call me back. Hours later and nobody had called me back.
Now, I call the 1800 number again. I spend 30 minutes on the phone with them while they had to get the manager to find it. OK they finally found it. I'm relieved and go into the store to retrieve it. First, there was a very long line and it takes me over 20 minutes to even get to the front of the line. The employee goes into the back for about 5 minutes and finally finds my package. She opens it up and there is an item missing. They offer to have it ordered again and shipped to the store, but at this point, I don't even want it anymore. Nobody offered to at least ship it to my home so I would not have to avoid this mess again. Now, trying to get my refund for the item missing took another 20 minutes because of their system. While I am waiting for them to figure it out, I look at their pots and pans. I decide I need a new pot even though I don't ever want to purchase from JCPenney again, I go ahead and buy it. For all my troubles, nobody even offered me a discount on my reluctant purchase. In the end, I also never got a receipt for any of my purchases so I am stuck with all my items.
I am usually a very patient person, but it should never take over 40 minutes to pick up an...
Read moreIt's rare that I have a reason to be at a mall.
Being the introvert I am, I tend to avoid places where I might encounter loud herds, angry drivers, or forced interactions.
I was pleasantly surprised when I chose to start my hunt for an outfit here, rather than risk the delay that might come with ordering via online.
Penney's was a favorite of my Mom's, so I began here.
The store was clean and orderly.
Things were in place.
They had some sales which caught my attention and caused me to side-quest, inform others, and share the bargain details.
The staff were friendly and they didn't pursue me, aggressively to assist me, which pleased me very much. They were polite and I felt like if I needed help, it was easy to find.
I was reminded how most big anchor stores feel sterile- and almost like a rat maze- as each section bleed into the other with little deviation.
The lighting, I both appreciated and hated, as it was harsh and too bright for my liking but when dealing with color detail, it helped identify the differences in shades or patterns a breeze.
I didn't find what I was looking for but because they had the sale they did, I sent DH and son in a couple of days later to pick up a couple of things.
My daughter went with me. We didn't go in the weekend, but midweek- and we went in the late afternoon- early evening.
There were people there but no herds. It was quiet but active.
We didn't use the water closet in the store and we didn't really browse beyond the first side quest.
I'll have to try to make it out...
