Recently tried this place and was left with mixed feelings. While the atmosphere is very fun, that’s about where the positives end. Very doubtful if I’ll return.
One major issue is their ordering setup. The counter is right by the entrance, which means if there’s a line of more than 2 people, you’ll have ti wait outside. And let me tell you, the wait can be quite long.
Variety and customization are definitely not their strong suits. While they do offer some interesting taco options, the menu is quite limited. What’s even more frustrating is they they don’t allow any modifications whatsoever. Taco Cat’s menu states the same thing, however if you request an ingredient be left out, they’re happy to oblige. Not Taco Madre though. I attempted to request a taco without pico, but was initially told no. When I paused to decide on another taco option the staff told me they could try to leave off the pico since the taco was so good they’d hate for me to miss out. I made sure to thank them, but the taco still arrived with pico - a disappointed lapse in communication.
The prices are also quite off-putting considering the portions sizes and ingredients. Paying $6 for a skimpy taco is just excessive. Furthermore, the queso turned out to be more of a watery broth than a rich cheese dip - at, you guessed it, a very high price.
On a slightly positive note, the salsa bar and chips were a standout. However, the cost of the chips felt disproportionate to the quantity you receive. It's hard to justify the expense when you only get about 15 chips.
Overall, the cute atmosphere and decent salsa can’t make up for the disappointing experience. If you’re looking for reasonable prices, flavorful variety, and a solid queso dip, I’d look elsewhere. This restaurant definitely has potential but they need to address some of the glaring issues to be able to retain a...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted to try some new food and found this place. We only ordered 3 things and its so expensive. It's overpriced, definitely not family friendly pricing. Ordered the birria ramen, camaron taco and another taco because my husband thought it wasn't enough food. He tried to ask the person who took our order how big the food was but he didn't really know. He just told us it was one taco only. So, My husband then asked if the Camaron taco was good. He didn't know again, so he the employee which was his favorite and he said didn't try them. Then I asked what was popular? He didn't know that either..The employee didn't bother to even ask/find out. We went ahead with the order. Not to mention our food for just 2 people was already expensive without drinks.. The food came out from those robots that bring you the food. The Birria ramen was very very mild tasting. sort of just like the ramen you buy for 1 dollar but this ramen was about 20 dollars.. I couldn't justify spending around 6 dollars for ONE taco after tasting it. What I mostly think of this place is: overpriced on the food alone without the drinks, staff didn't know much and how the food tasted didn't match the price. I couldn't help but to think we were suppose to eat across the street at the restaurant called The Chop House. It would've been the same price too! I wouldn't recommend this place, I actually can't! I don't think I would try this place again because of the pricing just to taste food that made me wish I...
Read moremy food was made incorrect, which was not a huge deal. the issue i had is i did not have time to wait for the food to be remade, so i asked for a refund. i was declined a refund, although their refund policy is posted on their registers. the staff called a manager and did not tell the manager why i wanted a refund and i was refused a refund and told that the only solution was for me to come back another time to get the food remade. they took my money and were fine with me leaving the store without anything and keeping my money. very upsetting. especially because when i could make it back over to pick up the order (because that was the only way i wouldn’t be throwing away my money) the food was greasy/oily as it usually is. the location is cute, and i had very high hopes for it when this business first arrived. i was steadily disappointed by the food quality, because most times it is greasy and does not have much flavor/seasoning. the drinks are good though. the staffing is hit or miss. either you’ll be acknowledged and approached or you’ll be seen and the workers will continue to be on their phone until they are ready to place the order. personally i will not be returning due to my last visit and correspondence with i believe the owner who saw no issue with my experience , but i hope their service improves and this business can thrive from their...
