I wish I could review the server separate from this review, she was great.
I went here with my family for my birthday, & it was awful. My mom and dad arrived before my family & I and requested a table for 5 + a highchair. We tried to book a reservation the day before we dined & we were told to just come in, they weren't that busy during the time frame (between 4 and 5 PM). The middle aged blonde hostess with fake eyelashes was immediately rude to my parents, scoffing & telling them it would be a wait for a table when they said they couldnt make a reservation. We expected a wait, we weren't expecting to be seated right away cause we're a big party. The other lady at the hostess stand took down my mom's info & let her know she would get a text when the table was ready. When my mom got the text, she went to show it to the same hostess with blonde hair & fake eyelashes, & she didn't even acknowledge her, she just looked at the other lady. We were seated in the middle of the dining room where large parties are sat, had to wait more than 5 minutes for a high chair that was requested when the table was requested. The long table that was directly next to us was cleared of plates, but was still dirty & had food all over it! This didn't get cleaned up until halfway through our time there.
Our server seemed a little nervous & new. Which is fine, she did great for being new! She made sure to ask about preferences, double checked on certain items we inquired about & took care of us to the best of her ability.
When our food came, one of the runners set a hot plate down in front of my 1 year old. It was his meal, but the plate was not a temperature that he could touch & not get hurt. I was so focused on cutting up my child's food, I didn't notice that my meal wasn't brought out! My husband asked our server, & she said they were working on it. It was another 10 minutes before my meal was brought out to me. I ordered the Seafood Alfredo with no mushrooms. When ordering, our server told me that the cooks would just have to pick out the big mushrooms, so there might still be some little ones, so I told her nevermind, I'll pick them out myself. Not a big deal, I'm the one who's ordering something that comes with an ingredient I don't like, I'll pick them out. So when my pasta came out with mushrooms, I assumed they burned the first batch & had to remake it or the cooks got their timing wrong. The guy who brought it out just said "pasta" in a rude tone. No apology from anyone that my meal came out 10 minutes later than the rest of the table. Within a few minutes, the pasta was cold. Which means, the actual pasta was made much earlier than the sauce.
Right before my pasta was brought out, my parents ordered another round of drinks. They were finished eating (10 minutes later) when someone finally brought them over. At that point, we were ready to leave, denied the drinks because they had been waiting 10 minutes or more for their drinks & just asked for the check. Our server came back around & we asked for the check again. Then the manager was brought over to our table to see what the problem was. We explained to her that it started with the hostess (which she tried to deny because she was the other lady standing up there with the lady that had fake eyelashes) & how it took my food an extra 10 minutes to come out & no one apologized. She said she had them redo it because I had asked for no mushrooms. If that was the case, then why was there still mushrooms? Not little ones, big obvious pieces of mushrooms.
We had chosen this restaurant because of the seafood options, but I wish we had gone to Red Lobster. The hour & a half we wasted in this restaurant made the end of my birthday horrible. I sat in a room full out people getting their food before me when they came in after me & I just wanted to go home and cry.
Honestly, it's not even worth going to the place. Our server was the only one who genuinely cared about us being upset, and the manager kept looking to pin...
Read moreThanks to Jordan, the service-oriented and professional assistant manager, for making my lunch today a pleasant experience. My server Rayne was helpful and pleasant. She was five stars, but I’m giving four stars for the rude greeter and for my first server who was rude and got replaced. The entire time I was eating, that first rude server was YELLING things to people while passing me back and forth every time, which made it obvious that she’s starved for attention and draws it to herself inappropriately. She was disturbing. I’m grateful that I had Rayne.
SOLO-DINING IN 2023
I’m a solo-diner and hope that when I come back next time, I’ll be greeted appropriately, just as when I came here the first time (dinner).
Today was my second time (lunch), and let me just say this: having proper etiquette for welcoming solo-diners is a must in 2023.
Please establish such an etiquette asap.
There’s no need for your staff to be rude and offensive or obnoxious to solo-diners.
THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD!
APPETIZER: I had shrimp and crab cake; it was delicious and juicy, and I can honestly say that I’m definitely coming back to have this appetizer again!
MAIN DISH: I had mahi-mahi with mashed potatoes and broccoli and wow… I ate it all and enjoyed every bite! My goal was to have leftovers but wow, the food was so good, there was nothing left lol
DESSERT: do not leave this restaurant without having the cheesecake with berries… you’re welcome!
I like that they let me try wine and select which one I want. I like comfortable atmosphere and pleasant music. The temperature was hot. I did not like that… But overall, I recommend this establishment. I like Jordan very much and respect her conflict-resolution skills, professionalism, and respectful attitude toward customers.
Note to management:
My recommendation for greeting solo-diners: “Hello! Is this a PARTY OF ONE?” The language your staff used today was offensive and considering that it was done repeatedly, the inappropriateness of it was repelling! Jordan made...
Read moreThe Chop House in Augusta pairs the best food with a delightful dining experience.
The ambiance was tranquil and rustic yet sophisticated, resembling an upscale wooden lodge. The restaurant is somewhat spacious with gentle lighting and seating for tables, booths, and high-top stools for the bar.
The food was beautifully presented and consistently delicious. I got the Calamari and Shrimp for an appetizer, a side of Dinner Bread and a House Salad, and the Filet Mignon (cooked rare) and Garlic and Herb Mashed Potatoes for the entrée. Everything was marvelous.
The Shrimp and Calamari tasted fresh, flavorful, and were lightly breaded. They came with cocktail sauce and remoulade sauce. The remoulade sauce was my favorite of the two, and my only point of improvement for this dining experience would be that the cocktail sauce was somewhat too salty, though the dish was still overall enjoyable.
The most notable part of the dining experience was the rich, semi-sweet butter that was paired with the soft, warm Dinner Bread. It was a delightful surprise and is easily one of the best bread-and-butter side dishes I have ever had, and the bread itself was relatively unique.
Likewise, the house salad was surprisingly unique and flavorful and seemed to surpass the expectation of a simple, generic dish as I had thought; there was significant personality present on the plate. The raspberry vinaigrette sauce I chose was zesty and enhanced the already-impressive salad.
The steak was cooked to perfection with a side of rich, creamy mashed potatoes. The steak came with light béarnaise sauce that really brought out the flavors and largely added to the dish, and the mashed potatoes perfectly complemented the steak as a classic pairing.
Overall I highly recommend visiting The Chop House if you have the opportunity to do so. This dining experience would be worth...
