I really wish their was a lower star. Advising was the best officer encountered! I was set to graduate in 2018 until I enrolled here!!! Firstly my financial aid had been done since April however 4 days after school started they popped up stuff which allowed me not too be awarded!! I was given the run around and had too make 11 appearances. Secondly I enrolled in online classes that never showed up on my student acct. even after contacting their help desk we couldn't find the class. After 4 days I was dropped from the class which I needed too graduate. I was then given the run around on contacting the online! Still no help. My financial aid was dropped due too falling under 6 hours. I then spoke with an advisor who had me attend the class, I did the paper. And homework only too have the dean intervene and tell me he refused too enroll me in the class!!! I went up Monday too speak with him. He was rude and wouldn't here of anything I had too say. And even worse basically blamed me saying how could you do homework if the class never showed up! I was not able to do any work! I was then rushed out, and he didn't give a hell about this pushing back my graduation date, that I had done homework been too the class and was now having too pay for my remaining classes out of pocket! If your serious about your education I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL! I've been in school 5 years and have never dealt with such rude, in professionalism and lack of consideration for the school! Now I owe them a bill due too financial aid being dropped and can't enroll back into school until paid! I was set too graduate May 2018, now I'm not able too do so until August of 2019, thanks too this community college! Not too mention all the times I've run around too their campus to have absolutely nothing accomplished. I have a backpack full of homework and internship hours (70 to be exact) that I've done for NOTHING!!! If you want too play with your education and waste money then here's where you wanna go! But if you actually want a freaking degree! Don't expect a contribution from anyone at this school! Sorely disappointed! Oh and I didnt mention. I quit my job too finish my degree... so me and my three children have been subjected too homelessness and being on the streets!! We just moved here and were told I would be awarded before the 15th! This is what we told the landlord, because of my expected refund. None of that happened so we have a great deal to thank the dean, financial aid, the asst dean some lady named Courtney and a plethora of other incompetent individuals who are more concerned with their title than...
Read moreSad. You go in debt, thousands of dollars, to take classes that are substandard, taught by "professors" who spend their time bemoaning that they dont get paid enough.
Dealing with the financial aid office is an absolute joke. 11 phone calls, asking if they have everything needed to release funds.
I get a variety of answers: yes, it's being processed; no we are missing xxx paper; (which was sent separate times with read receipts) yes we have everything, expect your money in two weeks;
no we are missing yyy paperwork (which had also been sent, again with read receipts)
"its so far into the semester, we need grade verifications; (one of which took 4 more weeks, since the class was an online class, and the teacher hadn't bothered to respond to questions, emails, homework assignments or anything for over a month.
It became very obvious that the student aide answering the phone had a prewritten list of answers to questions that he was told to use, whether they fit the situation or not. He never bothered to look up anything, ask a question, just get the student off the phone asap.
Culmination was, no money to buy books, and without books, no way to pass the class, and gee, now you get to pay back the tuition.
AVOID CCA like the worthless money grubbing...
Read moreI really love this place! I think most colleges (in my experience) deal with the mundane and complicated process of financial aide. I rode the department just like I would any school application process and my stuff was handled. Its never perfect but it works. I took responsibility for my experience and my processing. I've loved 9/10 teachers and specifically LOVE the small classes and mix of students. There are people from all nations, military, disabled, young , old- you name it. With only one poor professor experience (she was new) I report all the professors I've had were professional, accessible, and well educated in their field. The funny thing is people here saying they will go to CCD , I hope they know MOST of the faculty that works downtown also work at CCA. (The life of adjunct professors having to make ends meet by teaching at multiple colleges in the city) My favorite part is the LOW cost and easy parking. Why pay for the same professors for a higher cost and then fight downtown traffic and exorbitant parking fees? No thanks, its just an associates degree...you have to...
