I have never had such an odd and aggressive shopping experience.
I went into the store on December 23rd around 4pm. Store was nice, picked up about $120 worth of stocking stuffers for my wife. Easy to find stuff while my 1-year-old son was strapped to my chest. But when I went to check out, things got weird.
The young lady at the checkout asked if I had a loyalty program. I said, “no and I don’t want one”. The cashier then asked if anyone I knew had one and I said, “I don’t want to give any information out, thanks.”
They then said, “well without a loyalty account we cannot do return”. I said, that’s “odd, I am pretty sure that’s not the case”. The cashier then proceeded to raise her voice tell me that that I’m wrong and they won’t honor any returns without a membership.
Okay… weird. But I can move on. I got to get home, and I don’t like to argue in front of my kids.
So, I pay and ask for a printed receipt (of course at this point) and read the back which clearly states the return policy without a membership [see photo].
I show this to the cashier and say “you might want to check in with your manager as the policy on the receipt clearly allows for returns without a membership and a receipt”.
My original cashier and two other cashiers then begin to yell at me that they don’t honor that policy. I say “you understand this is considered a point-of-sale legal agreement, right? It’s a type of contract, you have to honor it”.
Again, I’m yelled at by three cashiers that this isn’t the case.
I decide “whatever, not my monkeys” and walk out. The original cashier proceeds to follow me out of the store to continue berating me until I am out the door.
Again, all of this is while I have my one-year-old son strapped to my chest.
I have never shopped at a company where the sales staff yells at me just because I don’t want a membership or that I pointed out their return policy on their own receipt contradicts what they are telling me. I don't know if it was the holiday rush stress or whatever. Still a truly bizarre shopping experience to say the least.
My wife had, up till now, spent a ton of money at this store. I guess she’ll be taking her...
Read moreI received a Ulta Beauty gift card for my birthday and 11 days after my purchase I tried to exchange one of the unopened makeup setting sprays with the original receipt. When I arrive I was asked by the cashier for my phone number. Then I was asked if I was an Ulta member, no I'm not.She went on to say if I was a member they could email my receipt. Well, I don't need a email receipt because I have the original receipt. She then calls someone for a override and that person asked if I was a Ulta member and then rudely told me "If I was not a member she couldn't override the register to do the exchange ". I didn't have to be a member to make the purchase, so why do I need to be one now? On the back of the receipt it clearly says " If you are not a member or did not use your membership number your original receipt is required". I didn't want to get into a teach them "Ulta Return Policy" match. It was clear that their specialty wasn't customer respect or service. I politely asked for my merchandise and left. I then called Ulta customer service and explained what had happened and the outcome was that they would email the store manager and reiterate the Return Policy clearly written on the back of the company's receipt. I advised to try the exchange within 48 hours and if I have a similar problem I should call them while in the store, so that they can correct the matter while I'm there. Really?? And should I hand my phone to the cashier or the override person while you train them on your company's policy? I was even told I can just drive to a different Ulta Beauty story to do the exchange. Yes, I'm only the customer, inconvenience me more. This has been an all around horrible experience and I hope I never get a gift card from Ulta Beauty ever! My identity was compromised last year and I didn't want to give my personal information for a membership. It's clear that having a valid receipt and unopened merchandise means nothing if your not an Ulta Beauty member. Maybe if the makeup setting sprays was stolen and use I wouldn't have had no problem as long as I was an Ulta Beauty member. ...
Read moreI left the salon looking like this. I was there yesterday from 9 am until 3:45 pm. My stylist Jillian had 0 idea what she was doing. She kept asking the master Stylist Yelena for assistance after she already had foils on my head. Yelena walked over and told her the application was wrong in front of me. What I wanted was a small accent money piece. I didn’t ask for the front part of my hair to be yellow. At the end of my visit Jillian even pulled me to the side and told me that next time I should book with Yelena because she doesn’t have experience doing this. She then wrote the other stylists name on a business card for me. Why wouldn’t they tell me this beforehand? I would have been fine and gone about my day. She couldn’t even blow dry my hair at the end because she said they put too much stuff in it and now it couldn’t be styled. The look the cashier and the master stylist gave me when I was done made me feel sick to my stomach. I left the salon mortified. I went somewhere else today to get it fixed and this stylist was also mortified with my hair. She told me the person who did my hair shouldn’t have access to bleach and that my hair looked like it was cut with a knife. It is now fixed and I’m grateful to have the money to get this fixed but I am writing this review so that this doesn’t happen to someone else. If you aren’t capable of doing someone’s hair just say that please instead of ruining their hair and taking their money. The last picture is what I wanted and what I was able to get done today at a different salon with a different stylist who is heaven sent. Save your money and run away from this...
