I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at a restaurant and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. Let me start by saying that we decided to dine at this particular establishment because my daughter had received a certificate from her school for a free milkshake as a reward for her good behavior. Needless to say, she was beyond excited.
However, our first interaction with our server set the tone for the rest of the meal and it was not a good one. We mentioned that we had the free milkshake certificate, only to be told that their computer systems were down and he wasn't even sure if we could use it. Seriously? This is not our problem and it's certainly not something we should be dealing with as customers.
Now, I understand that technical issues can happen, especially in a service environment. But here's the thing - figure it out to the best of your ability and pivot. Try your best to minimize the impact on the customer experience and take ownership of the situation from start to finish.
As expected, all our food and drinks took a while to come out. We understood the stress on the system and didn't expect refills or anything extra. However, what really bothered us was the fact that we never received the milkshake we came for.
To top it all off, at some point during our meal, the server brought us a manual credit card form and asked us to fill in our orders and write down our credit card numbers. Now, I'm no expert, but isn't that part of the server's job? It made me question whether this was some sort of major Red Robin scam set up. I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
By the end of the meal, the computer was finally working, but we had already manually filled out our own ticket for the server. And still, no milkshake. As I was inquiring about the shake, the table next to us received not one, but five milkshakes. Apparently, they had an extra one and it was delivered to them by mistake. It was disheartening to witness this, especially knowing that we came in solely for the milkshake. Finally, our waiter was forced to rectify the situation and he returned with a small to-go milkshake that was the wrong flavor.
Now, I understand that Red Robin is not a fine dining establishment and I didn't have high expectations. But the complete lack of service and common sense displayed by the staff truly saddens me. If a restaurant can't manage to function when technology goes down, one can only imagine the chaos if a more critical system were to fail. It's a glimpse into the idiocracy that we may be heading towards.
In conclusion, my visit to this restaurant was a disappointment on many levels. From the initial mishandling of the milkshake situation to the overall lack of service and professionalism, it left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope that the management takes note of these issues and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more positive dining experience for...
Read moreCould not be more disappointed. The only good experience of the night was that I got front row parking. I called ahead to ask if I needed to do the call ahead seating option and the girl said that they had plenty of bar seating and that we wouldn't have to wait. Got there and was told 5-10 minutes. Was not seated for over 20 minutes. Didn't think too much of it until I saw that there were 4 or more tables available in the bar area when we sat down. Our server was over within a couple of minutes to take our drink order and didn't come back for the food order for over 10 minutes. I could understand this if he was super busy, but the other waitress had twice as many tables and was at every one of them every 5 minutes or so. He finally came back with a basket of about 9 fries and took our order. We sat there and waited for over 25 minutes and watched while the couple next to us (they arrived over 10 minutes after us, but had the more attentive waitress) got their food before we even got another basket of fries. Our server came over and asked us if everything was still ok and I said, "No. I'm just wondering where our food is." After he walked away to check, the lady sitting next to us even acknowledged that she got there long after us and was curious how she got her food before us. He came back with the food and blamed the timing all on the kitchen. I didn't believe him at first and I especially didn't believe him when both mine and my girlfriend's fries were cold (not warm in the slightest) and when she bit into her burger and was chewing cold meat. It was all cooked all the way through. I'm positive our server wasn't paying attention and left it sitting there, waiting to be taken to our table. Instead of asking for our meals to be reheated and possibly waiting another 20 minutes, we left with our meals in to-go boxes to take them home and warm them back up. I arrived at 6:43 pm, was seated shortly after 7, placed my food order around around 7:15, received my food at 7:44, and left at 8 pm. An hour and 17 minutes, and I had my cold food for 16 minutes before walking out of there. I'm not sure what Red Robin's dress code is, but from my experience, the employees that don't have to wear "Red Robin" branded attire seem to be the shift managers or store managers and our server was one of them. If this is what management is like, I seriously think they need to reconsider their requirements. This is by far the worst service and experience I have had at a Red Robin and after reading some of the other reviews for this particular location, I will not be returning. What a complete...
Read moreI recently dined at Red Robin, and overall, it was a pleasant experience that left us satisfied, albeit with a few minor critiques.
The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, making it an ideal spot for families or anyone looking for a nice meal without the usual hustle and bustle. This tranquil setting allowed us to enjoy our conversations and truly savor our time together.
The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure our drinks were filled and our needs were met throughout the meal. It made a significant difference in our dining experience, as we felt well taken care of without being overwhelmed.
Now, onto the food. The kids opted for the classic cheeseburgers, which came with the famous endless fries. They absolutely loved their meals, and it was a joy to see them enjoy the generous portions. The fries were crispy and plentiful, making it a hit with both of our children.
As for the adults, I ordered the salmon, while my partner chose the shrimp with Brussels sprouts. The salmon was cooked well and was paired nicely with a side of broccoli. While it was a good dish, I felt it lacked a bit of flavor that could have elevated it to something extraordinary. A touch more seasoning or a sauce would have really enhanced the overall experience. The shrimp dish, too, was satisfactory but could have benefited from a little more zest to bring out the flavors of the ingredients.
In summary, Red Robin provided a great dining experience with good food and exceptional service. While the dishes we ordered were well-prepared and satisfying, they did miss that extra burst of flavor that would have made them truly memorable. However, the comfortable atmosphere and attentive staff made up for it, making it a solid choice for a family meal. We left feeling full and happy, and I would definitely consider returning, perhaps to try some of their other...
