I am only giving this store 2 stars because it did have a good selection of brands BUT (and here's a big 'but' in my opinion) I went into this location to return something that was a little too small that was purchased on vacation in Oklahoma. Right when you walk in the door the whole store has this weird smell like rubber or wet fabric that hasn't properly dried and smallest like mildew or maybe both. The women who completed my return was very helpful!
I am visiting from out of town and a cold front came in so I wanted to get a couple warmer items and instead walking over to Nordstrom since we were pressed for time, I figured I'd shop in this store. Where the women at the BCBG counter was nice she was not helpful with finding a dressing room or sizes in the clothes. I was trying on a jacket and a couple pairs of jeans since the weather had changed and it was a bit cool at the event today. I found a pair of jeans along with some PJs that I really liked and went to check out. As we were checking out we were having small talk with the women, explaining how we were from CA and that we had the opportunity to return my item while in TX since there was no Dillard's in CA. After we were done in Austin, we leave to head 'home' in Gidings (at my cousins house about 40+min away), as I'm laying out my clothes for tomorrow and pull out the jeans I just purchased, I come across the lovely ink filled security sensor still attached to the pant leg. So not only am I mad the she forgot to take off the sensor but tomorrow is Sunday which means the store is only open from noon - 6:00pm which is right at the prime time for being at the MAIN event which we flew into Austin for, with the venue being a good about 40min away from this Dillard's location. I understand that people are human but we were the only customers on the whole level so she had no reason to be distracted. So now I have to make a special trip there, be late to my event, all because a sales rep forgot to remove the ink filled security sensor...
Read moreBest place to buy clothes when they do a clearance sale. At the sale, you can snag a garment that is marked 65% off with an additional 30% off. Sometimes, after they have done a 30% off sale, they even do additional 40% off a couple months later. For a $100 garment, if it is marked to $35, then 40% off 65% off, it's $21 plus tax. Beware though, sizes will be limited and you'll only have 3 days to return including the day purchased. Store associates are not the friendliest. Oftentimes associates won't check their databases for other sizes at other stores if it's clearance, they give you a store number and you have to call. To send any merch to your house, it's $10 [as of this posting date]. I like Dillards for their in-house Antonio Melani brand (great leather skirts/dresses), Cece, Ralph Lauren, Halston Heritage (select stores), Free People, A loves A, Sothern Living home brand, Texas shop (selected stores-- with DoubleD Ranch and Tasha Polizzi). Christmas merch selection is fantastic. You can snag some killer deals. I got $1000 mark wood nutcrackers for $250. Shopping their clearance sale gets expensive for me since I find a lot of...
Read morePRO: store has a solid selection of plus sized clothes. CONS: Disappointed that all fitting rooms were closed. I needed 1 dress but bought $700+ worth of dresses so I can try them on at home. Frustrated that I had to circle the store calling "Hello?"to find a clerk to pay. After paying was advised I had to exit from the lower level. After getting to the lower level I learned we had to exit Dillards from the point furthest from the stores entry from the mall to an out of the way parking lot. I asked if I could return the clothes that I just purchased so i didn't have to carry them all the way around the exterior of the building until I could get to the right parking lot. They said no. This meant walking around the exterior of the mall in 102 degree heat carrying a giant plastic bag almost the same height as me filled with gowns with an injured foot. The straightest route was to climb a dirt hill and hope to step between the tree roots hoping not to stumble. Not the type of service I...
