We live close by, and my teen loves to come to the mall, so visit Spencerâs often! The employees are the BEST, theyâre always so kind and helpful, itâs one of my favorite âsafe spacesâ. But I took away one star after meeting the manager todayâŚ..
She yelled at me for trying on a top over my clothes. There are no fitting rooms, and they do not accept returns, only exchanges. I put a mesh chain top over my tank top to make sure it fit. Then I pulled my shirt down to see if the mesh was sheer (itâs not). Nothing inappropriate was showing. My friend and I were in the back corner (18+) and not in view of others, but she had just clocked in and was going into the break room. No customer service voice, no politeness, just a very snotty âyou canât do that here!â before closing the door in our faces. Weâd had zero issues up until then, weâd been shopping for a good 20 minutes or so by then, with items in our arms to buy.
I was so upset, I checked out right away instead of continuing to shop like Iâd planned (we were looking for a body harness, the lovely employee directed us to the back area).
The manager continued to argue with me when I mentioned her behavior to the other staff (it was then that I learned she was the manager). Donât talk to customers like that!! Just be polite!?
I still bought the mesh top, but she ruined a store I really enjoy going to with her incredibly unprofessional behavior. I know we all have bad days, but itâs like she took one look at us and decided to be mean...
Read moreOn 4/30/21 at 7:35pm I entered into the Spencer's store where an associate named DEAN repeatedly asked me if I needed assistance while hovering me. I then proceeded to ask her for body jewelry, after her third attempt of approaching me. DEAN then told me that the jewelry I was picking out was $50 and if I was sure that I wanted it, and if thats okay? Shocked and bewildered I just looked at her, and she proceeded to apologize and say that she has to let everyone know that ahead of time. As a POC I felt targeted and racially profiled by DEAN, I immediately went to the register to purchase my item, simply because I felt so uncomfortable. Keep in mind that I was in the store for less than 10mins. I've been a fatiful shopper at Spencer's for over 10 years, I will not be visiting this store or another Spencer's again. I suggest that this store and company discuss harmful discriminatory actions and attitudes towards shoppers. I would love to speak with the district manager about this situation, to ensure this doesn't happen again. If I can give 0 stars to this store...
Read moreHad a less than savory experience at Spencers today (7/8). When my spouse and I had entered all employees were standing around the checkout counter laughing and joking. A female employee spotted us and stepped away from the group. We didnât think much of it, till she was constantly behind us in ever area we were at and another male employee was standing at âvantageâ points where he could see us too. We stopped walking after about 10minutes of being in the store and the female employee was right behind us. My spouse made direct eye contact and loudly goes âwooow alrightâ she quickly said excuse me and scurried past, and the same male employee appeared close by. At that point we were 100% sure we were being followed.we left. My spouse has lost close to 100lbs And still wear their old close since we are waiting to purchase fitting clothes after they finish losing weight. Guess the baggy clothes set them n high alert. But itâs cool.I guess they have...
