DO NOT MOVE HERE. UNSAFE, DIRTY, AND THEY WILL TRY TO STEAL MONEY FROM YOU.
Our lease expired on 12/31/2021. Our new place couldn’t let us in until January 6th. Carter, my husband, asked Michael at one of the open jams in November if it would be okay for us to prorate the first week of January so we wouldn’t be homeless for a week. He said yes. When it came time to submit our notice to vacate, Michael insisted he never said we could have the prorated week and told us we had to pay the full month of January for those 6 days. Okay, not a problem, we will just move out on our original end of lease date 12/31/2021 and stay with some friends for a week.
We get to 12/30/2021 and are packing up the moving truck. Carter gets a call at 4:45pm informing us that we are being fined for not turning the keys in that day as the office was going to be closed on 12/31. Now we had NO idea that this was the case as we had never been spoken to about turning our keys in early. Carter asked if we were going to be reimbursed for 12/31 as we technically still had one more day on the lease that they were trying to take away from us. At that point they backed down and said we could just leave the keys in the kitchen drawer on 12/31/2021. Not a problem.
Where it gets really interesting is that I got a notification that we had been charged (payments were set up for automatic withdrawal) for January 2022 rent despite our lease ending on 12/31/2021. As the office was closed until Tuesday, I waited until then to reach out to management. There were many back and forth emails in which Michael completely ignored my issue and went on and on about the deposit. I reiterated this had nothing to do with the deposit and that they had charged us for rent after our lease had ended. After many emails I was told that there was nothing they could do and to reach out to my bank to reverse the charge.
We had a wonderful experience with previous management and all of the front office people until this last month when new management took over. It is very sad to see one person trying to destroy what was a great community and...
Read moreLegendary complex. The stars I’ve granted the met have no bearing on the aesthetic, quality, cleanliness, livability, Maitenence aptitude or ineptitude, or ANYthing to do with how “nice” the places are. The 5 star rating (very biased and based solely on my individual experience(s) and known experiences of my peers within this complex alone) is a result of the quality of time I had there- best of my life. You’re sure to meet SOMEONE here, and when I say someone.. imagine the most obscure human being you’ve ever met- and they turn out to be charming, or the scariest man you’ve ever met, you get to know him and find that he’s a huge fan of “Gilmore girls” and grows peyote in his own time- not for the substance use based chemical reaction; but simply for the hobby and challenge of contemporary horticulture. You may meet the love of your life here.. and then 17 weeks later that love of your life turns out to be the two years of your life ending in a mutual protective order from APD. But you wouldn’t change that for the world- despite the restraining order, right..? Basically , anything is possible at the met. It’s the quintessential 22-40s ( non discriminatory though, best believe a senior citizen can catch these mets experience) Austin apartment buiilding(s)- one place in austin that actually holds true to the fading ever so quickly Austin cliche phrase “Keep(ing)Austin Weird”. That could just be it; the Met off of riverside drive in near south Austin Texas: flat out weird - and for me today, and surely - others every day; the Met is flat out weird, but in a beautiful way that I, for one- hope doesn’t change. At least not in my lifetime. If you read this I’m dead serious and thanks for your...
Read moreI lived here for 3 years and it really was the only thing I liked about Austin. I wish I could pack it up and take it with me. So here's the thing, this is a place for artists, musicians, and weirdos- and you will be dealing with artists, musicians, and weirdos either you chill and learn to go with it or it will be a really horrible experience for you but if you go into a weirdo habitat you can't be upset when weirdo stuff happens. On the daily there will be music playing, neighbors talking loud, dogs barking (I do hate this btw), interesting herbs and various other medicinal substances floating about, but all in all I felt like I was apart of a community more like a co-op than an apartment. The apartments themselves are the coolest you'll ever see, art deco-style with concrete. If you want it to be better though, bring your own appliances and pretend its new york- you'll feel rich. The walls are super thin, so put a bookcase up or two so that you can't hear your neighbors enjoying one another. The office staff is really great but don't be a bother, speak to them respectfully, they're people. Maintenance is like no other, I give them 8 stars. Maria is the best, be nice to her and be nice to your neighbors.
Oh btw, there is security. My bedroom faces a window and I see them walking with a flashlight. I'm a single female, who is a night roamer lol and I've been perfectly fine. I think the best advice for here or anywhere really is "don't start no stuff, won't...
