JCPenney — Local services in Avon

Decent selection of items - fairly broad but not very deep, at least as far as brands.

I was specifically hoping to find some Nike shorts but as far as I can tell, they don’t carry Nike. That’s fine. That said, there really wasn’t a great pick for something as simple as athletic shorts beyond the most basic (cloth) or very 90’s looking, baggy basketball shorts.

Ok, fine, they didn’t have the specific brands I happen to like, that’s not really the biggest strike against this particular location. The reason for two stars is the checkout experience.

I’ve been here twice, once for an online pickup and again for a straightforward in-store purchase. After waiting in line for the online pickup, I was told to wait for the person to bring out my order in the vague area of the front of the store. It took about 10 minutes or so for someone to fetch my single item on a weekday evening - aka not exactly a hopping time.

When I came in during the weekend, the line was crawling. They opened up another checkout at the Sephora desk, and invited customers to go. I was one of two fooling enough to follow the offer, rather than being 8th or so in line. Well after a 10 minute or so process of simply ringing up 10 items or so, removing hangers, and refolding of the items of the gentleman in front of me, I realized the error of my ways. In the end, I actually beat most of the people in the normal checkout… I can’t imagine how that happened.

Long story short: if you aren’t in a hurry and don’t mind a basic selection of items, this store will meet those needs… and is at least clean...

This review is for the photo department, and if I could leave 0 stars I would. My family and I had an appointment to get photos taken. We arrived 10 mins early for the appointment as instructed. The worker on the phone told us we would be picking our background during this time. When we arrived there was no one at the desk. One person taking photos for another family. A second family waiting and a 3rd family viewing photos on their own. After taking the family in the booths photos the worker stepped out, barely acknowledged us and told us to sit in the lobby and wait because we had our puppy with us. It's fine we had to sit in the lobby. What wasn't fine was that it was now 7 pm, which was our scheduled time and there were still 2 families in front of us and 1 worker running the entire studio. We waited 20 mins and left. The women never came back out to speak with us or let us pick a background. An hour later the women from the studio called and told us it was time for our appointment. She was nothing but rude on the phone.,and made excuses for everything. Never again will we be trying to...

TANIA, at the Avon Oh store salon, was AMAZING! she was so friendly, confident, and inviting. She didn’t have an easy job with my hair. I came in and asked her to do a shortcut, and then bleaching. I had several colors in my hair that were hard to get out, including a red. not only was she patient, but she did an amazing job. The cut is beautiful and lays perfectly. The color by far exceeded my expectations. She took her time and explained everything she was doing, and even asked me for my input. Every step of the way she was checking with me and asking if what she was doing was OK. She didn’t do anything before talking to me about it first. She took extremely good care of me. She was so sweet! The salon is very lucky to have her as an employee. They got it right when they hired her! I will definitely be back, but I will always request her. I hope she never leaves.
